Network-reachable, no privileges on Ollama host, no user interaction; scope changes because the Ollama server probes separate internal systems; integrity and availability unaffected.

Ollama fails to validate redirect destinations when pulling tensor-layer models, allowing unauthenticated attackers to redirect blob downloads to arbitrary hosts. An attacker can control a registry, serve a malicious tensor-layer manifest, and cause the server to issue GET requests to internal hosts including cloud metadata endpoints.
AnalysisAI
Server-Side Request Forgery in Ollama versions 0.30.0 through 0.33.2 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to redirect the Ollama server's blob-download requests to arbitrary internal hosts, including cloud metadata endpoints such as the AWS instance metadata service. The flaw exists in the tensor-layer model pulling code path (x/transfer/download.go), where HTTP redirect destinations are not validated against an allowlist or the originating registry host. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The Ollama server must perform a model pull (ollama pull or equivalent API call) that contacts a registry under attacker influence - either a registry the attacker controls outright, or one where they can publish a model the victim would legitimately pull. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H reflects a low-friction, unauthenticated network attack with high confidentiality impact - most critical when Ollama runs on cloud VMs where the instance metadata service (169.254.169.254 or fd00:ec2::254) exposes IAM credentials without additional authentication. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Ollama to a version beyond 0.33.2, once a patched release is published by the project; the upstream fix has not been tagged in a named release at time of analysis, so monitor https://github.com/ollama/ollama/releases and the issue at https://github.com/ollama/ollama/issues/17041 for a confirmed fix version. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
