DescriptionCVE.org

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/amdkfd: Add bounds check for CRAT subtype length

The CRAT parser validates that the subtype header fits within the image, but does not verify that the advertised subtype length fits. A malformed CRAT table with an oversized length field causes out-of-bounds reads when kfd_parse_subtype() casts the header to specific subtype structures.

Add validation that sub_type_hdr + length does not exceed the image boundary before parsing the subtype contents.

AnalysisAI

Out-of-bounds memory reads in the Linux kernel's drm/amdkfd CRAT table parser allow a local attacker to leak kernel memory and potentially crash the system on AMD GPU/APU-equipped hosts. The CRAT (Component Resource Affinity Table) subtype parser validates that a subtype header fits within the image buffer but fails to verify that the advertised subtype length field also stays within bounds, enabling kfd_parse_subtype() to cast the header pointer beyond valid memory when a malformed CRAT table is supplied. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires a host system with AMD KFD-capable GPU or APU hardware with the amdkfd kernel module loaded and active. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The vendor-supplied CVSS vector (AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/C:H/I:L/A:H) yields 8.0, but several metrics warrant scrutiny. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Apply the vendor-released patches: upgrade to Linux 7.1.10 or Linux 7.2 (or later), which contain the bounds-check fix for kfd_parse_subtype(). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory all Linux systems with AMD GPUs or APUs in your environment, particularly in data centers, HPC clusters, and multi-tenant platforms, and assess their criticality and user access controls. …
