DescriptionCVE.org

SiYuan before v3.8.1 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the asset.upload MCP tool that accepts arbitrary absolute file paths without workspace boundary validation. Attackers can induce the AI Agent to upload sensitive files such as SSH keys or credentials from outside the workspace into the asset directory through prompt injection.

AnalysisAI

Path traversal in SiYuan's asset.upload MCP tool before v3.8.1 allows an attacker to exfiltrate arbitrary host files - including SSH keys and credentials - by supplying absolute paths that bypass workspace boundary validation. The attack is delivered via prompt injection against an AI Agent connected to SiYuan's MCP server, meaning exploitation depends on an AI agent processing attacker-controlled content. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires three concurrent conditions: (1) the SiYuan MCP server is enabled and an AI agent is actively connected to it, (2) the attacker can inject malicious prompt instructions into content the AI agent processes - such as a shared note, imported webpage, or external document - and (3) the AI agent's guardrails do not reject or sanitize the injected tool-call instruction. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N, score 6.9) reflects a network-reachable flaw with low complexity and high confidentiality impact, tempered by a low-privilege requirement and the need for user interaction (the AI agent must process the injected prompt). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade SiYuan to v3.8.1 or later, which introduces workspace boundary validation in the asset.upload MCP tool, preventing absolute paths outside the workspace from being accepted. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
