Exploitation Conditions

The stigmem-plugin-multi-tenant opt-in plugin must be installed and active on the node - this is a non-default configuration. The attacker must hold a valid tenant administrator account with the tenant write capability on at least one tenant hosted on the target node; node-level superadmin authority is not required and is not a limiting factor. Exploitation is confined to the /v1/quarantine endpoints (list, count, get, admit, reject); no other endpoint surfaces are reported as affected. Default single-tenant nodes are completely unaffected because no second tenant exists to cross into. Access is network-based and requires valid credentials; unauthenticated or anonymous exploitation is not possible.

Impact

The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.6 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N) reflects a network-reachable, low-complexity flaw requiring only authenticated tenant-level access with no availability impact. The high confidentiality and integrity scores are appropriate: an attacker can exfiltrate quarantined content and alter moderation decisions (admit or reject facts) across all tenants on the node. However, the real-world risk is sharply bounded by a mandatory deployment prerequisite - the stigmem-plugin-multi-tenant plugin must be opted in; default single-tenant nodes are confirmed unaffected. No EPSS score was provided in the input data and no active exploitation has been reported. The risk profile is high for affected multi-tenant deployments and negligible for everyone else. No conflicting signals in available data; CVSS vector is consistent with the described attack.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

A tenant administrator on tenant-B of a multi-tenant stigmem node sends an authenticated GET request to /v1/quarantine/list; because the list query lacks a tenant_id predicate, the response includes quarantined facts belonging to tenant-A. The attacker then issues a POST to /v1/quarantine/{fact_id}/admit using a fact ID from tenant-A, successfully admitting that tenant's content using only their tenant-B write credential. No public exploit code is known at time of analysis.

AnalysisAIv1 – Aug 19, 2026

Cross-tenant broken object level authorization (BOLA) in stigmem-node exposes quarantined facts across tenant boundaries on multi-tenant deployments. A tenant administrator holding only a standard tenant write capability can list, read, and admit or reject quarantined facts belonging to any other tenant on the same node via the /v1/quarantine endpoints - bypassing isolation enforced by the stigmem-plugin-multi-tenant plugin. No public exploit identified at time of analysis; no CISA KEV listing. Default single-tenant deployments are entirely unaffected regardless of version.

RemediationAI

Vendor-released patch: 0.9.0a12. Upgrade the pip package to 0.9.0a12 or later. PR #728 (https://github.com/eidetic-labs/stigmem/pull/728) adds 'AND f.tenant_id = identity.tenant_id' to the list/count queries and _get_quarantined_fact, scopes the garden lookup to the requesting tenant, and elevates genuinely cross-tenant moderation to require the node-level can_admin_federation() superadmin capability rather than a plain tenant write. No workaround is available according to the vendor advisory - the only remediation is upgrading. Operators running single-tenant deployments do not need to take action but should upgrade as a matter of hygiene. Technical ContextAI · show details

stigmem-node (pip package, CPE cpe:2.3:a:eidetic-labs:stigmem:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*) is a federated knowledge-management node by eidetic-labs. The flaw is a CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) defect in routes/quarantine.py: the list/count query and the _get_quarantined_fact helper omitted an 'AND f.tenant_id = identity.tenant_id' predicate, and the garden lookup that resolves fact metadata was not scoped to the requesting tenant. The /v1/quarantine endpoints therefore returned and mutated records for all tenants on the node regardless of the caller's tenant context. Multi-tenancy is delivered through the opt-in stigmem-plugin-multi-tenant extension; without it only a single default tenant exists, so the cross-tenant attack surface does not exist on standard deployments.

DescriptionCVE.org

stigmem-node before 0.9.0a12 contains a broken object level authorization (cross-tenant BOLA) vulnerability in the quarantine review endpoints. On multi-tenant deployments running the opt-in stigmem-plugin-multi-tenant, the list/count queries and _get_quarantined_fact in routes/quarantine.py lacked a tenant_id predicate and the garden lookup was not tenant-scoped, allowing a tenant administrator with only a plain tenant write capability to list, read, and admit or reject quarantined facts belonging to other tenants via the /v1/quarantine endpoints. Default single-tenant deployments are not affected.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

stigmem-node in multi-tenant deployments contains a cross-tenant data access vulnerability (CVSS 8.6) allowing tenant administrators to breach isolation and access quarantined facts from other tenants. This affects only multi-tenant configurations and poses material compliance, regulatory, and customer trust risk. Single-tenant deployments are unaffected.

Business Impact: High
Compensating Controls

No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: (1) Network-layer access restrictions on /v1/quarantine endpoints; (2) Comprehensive audit logging and real-time alerting for quarantine API calls; (3) Strict least-privilege review of tenant administrator credentials and permissions; (4) Regular review of access logs for unauthorized cross-tenant operations; (5) Evaluation of temporary migration to single-tenant deployment model where operationally feasible.
