| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires network reachability to the UFO Mobile MCP HTTP servers on TCP 8020 (data collection) and/or 8021 (action) while running a version prior to 3.0.8, and an Android device connected to that server via ADB for the device-facing tools to have effect. No authentication, credentials, or user interaction are needed once the ports are reachable (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N). The primary limiting factor is deployment posture: the shipped configuration defaults to host 'localhost', so an out-of-the-box localhost-only setup is not remotely exploitable - real-world risk arises specifically when an operator binds the servers to a LAN or public interface (the documented remote-automation pattern) without firewalling the ports. There is no target-side patch dependency beyond the UFO version, and no non-default feature flag is required - the missing auth was the default behavior for these servers before 3.0.8. |
| Impact | The signals align toward genuine high priority: the CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated attack with no user interaction, and CWE-306 means there is literally no auth barrier to overcome once the port is reachable. The counterweight is deployment context - these servers default to host localhost in the shipped examples, and the documented remote deployments (e.g. 192.168.1.150) are intended for LAN automation rigs, so real exposure hinges on whether an operator bound them to a non-loopback or internet-facing interface. Where they are exposed, impact is severe (full read of screen/UI-tree data plus arbitrary device manipulation), so any operator running UFO's mobile agent on a shared or reachable network should treat this as urgent and patch immediately. There is no KEV listing and no POC referenced, and the vendor supplied no EPSS figure in this input, so exploitation is currently theoretical-but-trivial rather than confirmed in the wild; the missing EPSS and the localhost-default temper the raw 9.4 for the common case, but the effort to weaponize is minimal for any host that is exposed. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker on the same LAN (or able to reach an internet-exposed host) scans for open TCP 8020/8021, connects to the unauthenticated MCP endpoint, and calls get_ui_tree and capture_screenshot to harvest on-screen data including any displayed credentials or messages. They then chain tap, type_text, launch_app, and press_key to drive the ADB-connected Android device - opening apps, exfiltrating data, or altering device state - with no credentials and no user interaction. No POC is referenced, but the low attack complexity makes exploitation straightforward for any reachable server. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Aug 12, 2026
Missing authentication in Microsoft UFO's mobile MCP servers lets an unauthenticated remote attacker fully control an ADB-connected Android device before version 3.0.8. The create_mobile_data_collection_server and create_mobile_action_server components bind Streamable HTTP MCP services to TCP 8020 and 8021 with no credential check, exposing tools such as capture_screenshot, get_ui_tree, tap, swipe, type_text, launch_app, press_key, and click_control to anyone who can reach the ports. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, but the fix (adding UFO_MCP_API_KEY bearer auth) is confirmed in the vendor advisory GHSA-24fq-m9rr-g3mm and release v3.0.8, and the high EPSS-relevant impact (CVSS 9.4) makes this a serious exposure wherever the mobile agent is run on a reachable interface.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Microsoft UFO 3.0.8 (https://github.com/microsoft/UFO/releases/tag/v3.0.8), which requires bearer authentication on both mobile MCP servers via the UFO_MCP_API_KEY environment variable and fails the servers closed when it is unset. After upgrading, generate a high-entropy key (e.g. python -c 'import secrets; print(secrets.token_urlsafe(32))') and set the identical value in both the server process and the authorized UFO client so the ${UFO_MCP_API_KEY} YAML placeholders resolve. If you cannot upgrade immediately, bind the servers to localhost only and restrict ports 8020/8021 with firewall rules to trusted IPs - note this blocks legitimate remote automation clients on other hosts. Because bearer auth does not encrypt traffic, any non-loopback deployment should additionally front the servers with TLS via a reverse proxy or route them through a trusted private tunnel; the trade-off is added operational complexity and a proxy to maintain. Details are in the advisory GHSA-24fq-m9rr-g3mm and the updated docs (documents/docs/mcp/remote_servers.md, servers/mobile_executor.md).

Technical ContextAI · show details
UFO is Microsoft's open-source multi-agent framework for intelligent GUI/device automation. The affected component is the Mobile MCP (Model Context Protocol) subsystem in ufo/client/mcp/http_servers/mobile_mcp_server.py, which stands up two Streamable HTTP MCP endpoints - a data-collection server (namespace MobileDataCollector, port 8020) and an action server (MobileExecutor/MobileActionExecutor, port 8021) - that proxy commands to a physical or emulated Android device over ADB (Android Debug Bridge). The root cause is CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for a Critical Function): the MCP transport accepted requests without verifying any identity or token, so every exposed MCP tool became callable by any network peer. The commit e562d100 remedies this by introducing a bearer credential sourced from the UFO_MCP_API_KEY environment variable, failing the servers closed when the variable is unset and rejecting unresolved placeholders on the client side. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:microsoft:ufo:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* confirms the product scope is the UFO application itself across versions prior to 3.0.8.

2DescriptionCVE.org
Microsoft UFO open-source framework for intelligent automation across devices and platforms. Prior to 3.0.8, create_mobile_data_collection_server and create_mobile_action_server in ufo/client/mcp/http_servers/mobile_mcp_server.py exposed Streamable HTTP MCP services on TCP ports 8020 and 8021 without authentication, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to invoke capture_screenshot, get_ui_tree, tap, swipe, type_text, launch_app, press_key, and click_control against an ADB-connected Android device, disclose screen and device data, and modify device state. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.8.
Executive ViewAI
Microsoft UFO's mobile MCP servers (versions prior to 3.0.8) lack authentication controls, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to gain complete control of connected Android devices. Organizations using UFO's mobile agent capabilities face risk of unauthorized device manipulation, sensitive data access, and malicious software deployment without any authorization requirement.
Apply vendor patch: v3.0.8.
