AC:H reflects the real-world requirement to chain TRN-01 for full impact; all other metrics match vendor assessment given authenticated namespace editor access and network-reachable Kubernetes API.
Primary rating from Vendor (redhat).

2DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in the Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI) overlay for the training operator. The RHOAI overlay incorrectly aggregates trainjobs management permissions into the native Kubernetes edit ClusterRole. This allows any user with edit ClusterRole permissions in a namespace to create, modify, and delete TrainJobs. When combined with a separate vulnerability (TRN-01) that permits arbitrary pod configurations, a remote attacker with namespace editor privileges could exploit this to escalate privileges, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution.

AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI) training operator overlay allows any namespace editor to manage TrainJob resources beyond their intended authorization scope. The RHOAI overlay incorrectly injects trainjobs CRUD permissions into the native Kubernetes edit ClusterRole, violating the principle of least privilege. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires: (1) the target cluster must be running Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI) with the training operator overlay installed and enabled; (2) the attacker must possess a valid Kubernetes identity bound to the edit ClusterRole or an equivalent role within at least one namespace - anonymous or unauthenticated access is insufficient; (3) TRN-01 must be simultaneously exploitable in the same environment to achieve arbitrary code execution, as this CVE alone only grants TrainJob CRUD permissions. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The vendor-assigned CVSS 8.8 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H) reflects the chained impact including TRN-01, not this flaw in isolation. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker with a valid Kubernetes account holding namespace edit access on an RHOAI cluster submits a crafted TrainJob manifest that, via TRN-01's arbitrary pod configuration capability, specifies a privileged container with host path mounts or elevated security contexts. The TrainJob is accepted because the misaggregated edit ClusterRole grants trainjobs creation rights, and the resulting pod runs attacker-controlled code with cluster-node-level access. … |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch with an exact fixed version is identified at time of analysis based on available reference data. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, audit and restrict namespace editor role assignments in all RHOAI deployments to essential administrators only, and isolate affected RHOAI namespaces from production workloads via network policies. …
