Network-reachable and unauthenticated (AV:N/PR:N) but needs a specific UDS/ACL config to trigger (AC:H); the bypass exposes protected backend resources, so scope changes (S:C) with limited C/I impact.

DescriptionCVE.org

Apache Traffic Server can bypass IP access controls on UDS listeners and through ACL matching errors.

This issue affects Apache Traffic Server: from 8.0.0 through 8.1.9, from 9.0.0 through 9.2.14, from 10.0.0 through 10.1.3.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 9.2.15 or 10.1.4, which fix the issue.

AnalysisAI

Access control bypass in Apache Traffic Server (8.0.0-8.1.9, 9.0.0-9.2.14, and 10.0.0-10.1.3) allows remote attackers to defeat IP-based access restrictions, both on Unix Domain Socket (UDS) listeners and through faulty ACL matching logic. Because ATS commonly fronts internal origin servers and management endpoints, bypassing these IP allow/deny lists can expose protected backend resources that operators believed were network-restricted. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation targets ATS deployments that enforce access control via IP-based ACLs and/or expose Unix Domain Socket (UDS) listeners - the bypass manifests specifically on UDS listeners (which do not apply the intended IP controls) and via incorrect ACL match evaluation. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The vendor-supplied CVSS 4.0 base score is 7.0 (High) with vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N and notably VC:N/VI:N/VA:N but SC:H/SI:H - i.e. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An attacker whose source IP should be blocked crafts requests that either traverse a UDS listener or hit the flawed ACL matching path, causing ATS to treat the connection as permitted. With the IP restriction defeated, the attacker reaches an origin service, admin/remap route, or internal endpoint that operators assumed was reachable only from allow-listed addresses. …
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Apache Traffic Server 9.2.15 or 10.1.4, which correct both the UDS listener bypass and the ACL matching error, per the Apache advisory at https://lists.apache.org/thread/5prl9glcm9g2swnq9hqxvnokylm1gr6d. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory all Apache Traffic Server instances and confirm their versions; enable detailed ACL evaluation logging and implement firewall-based network segmentation restricting ATS listeners to trusted source IP ranges only. …
