MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Defense Evasion The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires network reach to the Langflow OSS Streamable MCP transport endpoint on an affected instance (versions 1.0.0-1.9.6) that has MCP project resources configured/exposed; per CVSS PR:N/UI:N no authentication or user interaction is needed, so any exposed endpoint is directly reachable by unauthenticated remote attackers. The primary limiting factor is exposure of that specific Streamable MCP endpoint - instances that do not expose the MCP transport to untrusted networks, or that gate it behind an authenticating proxy, are not practically reachable; there is no observed exploitation (SSVC Exploitation: none, not in KEV) and no public exploit code identified at time of analysis. |
| Impact | The signals are mostly aligned toward a genuine, high-priority network exposure but with a nuance. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N, C:H/I:H/A:H, 9.8) describes trivially remote, unauthenticated, low-complexity exploitation with total impact, and SSVC corroborates this with Technical Impact: total and Automatable: yes. However, SSVC Exploitation is 'none' (no observed or public exploitation), it is not on CISA KEV, and EPSS is only 0.24% (15th percentile) - meaning that despite the critical score, real-world exploitation is not yet observed or widely predicted. The gap between a 9.8 base score plus 'automatable: yes' and the low EPSS is best read as a freshly disclosed vendor-reported issue that has not yet attracted public exploit tooling, rather than a low-risk issue: the exposure is severe for any internet-reachable Langflow instance, so it should be patched promptly even though mass exploitation is not currently indicated. Note the CVSS A:H (availability) impact is not obviously explained by the description, which centers on unauthorized access and operation execution - verify the availability impact against IBM's advisory. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who can reach a Langflow OSS instance's Streamable MCP endpoint over the network sends crafted requests to the transport without any credentials, and because authorization is not enforced, the server returns protected MCP project resources and executes MCP operations on the attacker's behalf. No user interaction or prior authentication is needed, so an internet-exposed instance can be abused directly; no public proof-of-concept has been identified at time of analysis. |

Improper authorization enforcement in IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.9.6 lets unauthenticated remote attackers reach protected MCP (Model Context Protocol) project resources and invoke MCP operations through the Streamable MCP transport endpoint. Because the flaw bypasses authentication entirely on a network-facing endpoint and is rated CVSS 9.8 with full confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact, any exposed Langflow instance is at risk. There is no public exploit identified at time of analysis, and the EPSS probability is low (0.24%, 15th percentile), indicating exploitation has not yet become widespread.

Improper authorization enforcement in IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.9.6 lets unauthenticated remote attackers reach protected Model Context Protocol (MCP) project resources and invoke MCP operations through the Streamable MCP transport endpoint. Because authorization is not correctly checked on this transport, attackers bypass access controls entirely to read and manipulate MCP-exposed capabilities. IBM has released a fix, and no public exploit has been identified at time of analysis; EPSS probability is low (0.24%) despite the 9.8 CVSS rating.
Improper authorization in IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.9.6 lets unauthenticated remote attackers reach protected MCP (Model Context Protocol) project resources and invoke MCP operations through the Streamable MCP transport endpoint, which fails to enforce access controls. The flaw exposes high-value AI agent tooling and project data without any credentials; a vendor patch is available, but no public exploit identified at time of analysis and the issue is not on CISA KEV.
RemediationAI
Patch available per vendor advisory: IBM has released a fix, so upgrade Langflow OSS to the vendor-specified fixed release above 1.9.6 as documented at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7277570 (consult that advisory for the exact patched version, which is not enumerated in the available data). As an interim compensating control until patching, restrict network reachability of the Streamable MCP transport endpoint - place Langflow behind an authenticating reverse proxy or gateway that enforces identity before requests reach the endpoint, and block direct inbound access to the MCP port from untrusted networks; the trade-off is that legitimate remote MCP clients must be routed through the proxy and re-authenticated. Where MCP project exposure is not required, disable or do not expose the MCP server feature for sensitive projects, accepting the loss of remote MCP tool access. Avoid exposing Langflow directly to the internet.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Langflow OSS is an open-source, IBM-maintained low-code visual framework for building LLM-driven agents and workflows, which exposes tools and data to AI clients via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The vulnerability lives in the Streamable HTTP MCP transport endpoint, the server-sent/streaming channel MCP clients use to call project-scoped tools and resources. The root cause is CWE-285 (Improper Authorization): the endpoint fails to enforce the authorization checks that should gate access to a given MCP project, so requests that should require an authenticated, authorized identity are honored regardless. In effect the authorization decision is missing or incorrectly applied at the transport layer, allowing operation-level access to resources scoped to other users' or projects' MCP servers.

Network-reachable MCP endpoint with no authentication or interaction (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N); missing authorization yields unauthorized resource access and operation execution, supporting high confidentiality and integrity, with availability high retained per vendor rating.

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.9.6 could allow unauthenticated attackers to access protected MCP project resources and execute MCP operations due to improper authorization enforcement in the Streamable MCP transport endpoint.
Executive ViewAI
IBM Langflow OSS versions 1.0.0 through 1.9.6 contain a critical authentication bypass (CVE-2026-7663, CVSS 9.8) enabling unauthenticated remote attackers to access protected resources and execute operations on exposed instances. Any organization running these versions faces immediate risk of complete system compromise including unauthorized data access, manipulation, and service disruption. Immediate patching is required to secure all deployments.
Apply vendor patch. If patching is delayed, implement network-level access controls restricting Langflow instance connectivity to authorized clients only; deploy Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules blocking unauthenticated requests to MCP protocol endpoints; enable continuous monitoring and alerting for anomalous access patterns.
