| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a low-privileged authenticated account on the smr (Space Merchant Realms) instance with access to the Album Website feature in src/pages/Account/AlbumEditProcessor.php. The vulnerability is triggered specifically by the album 'Website' input, which is passed unvalidated into isUrlReachable() where curl_init() fetches the attacker-controlled URL server-side (a HEAD request with a 5-second timeout). Limiting factors: exploitation is authenticated (PR:L) rather than anonymous; the response body is not returned to the attacker (curl is configured NOBODY/headers-only), so this is a blind SSRF exposing only reachability/status-class, meaningfully constraining data exfiltration. No user interaction by a victim is required. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 base score is 5.3 (Medium), driven by a network attack vector (AV:N), low complexity (AC:L), and crucially PR:L - exploitation requires an authenticated account that can edit an album profile. Impact is limited to low confidentiality (VC:L) with no integrity or availability impact, consistent with a blind SSRF: the vulnerable isUrlReachable() function issues a server-side curl HEAD request to an attacker-supplied 'Website' value and only reveals reachability via HTTP status class (2xx/3xx), rather than returning full response bodies. The input shows E:P (Proof-of-Concept), and the description states the exploit has been publicly disclosed, so publicly available exploit code exists - but this is NOT active exploitation: there is no CISA KEV listing and no EPSS score was provided, so widespread or automated exploitation cannot be inferred. Overall this is a genuine but moderate-priority issue: the authentication requirement, blind/limited data exposure, and niche affected product (an open-source browser game) substantially reduce real-world risk despite the public POC. Signals are consistent with no contradictions; the main missing data points are EPSS probability and any real-world exploitation telemetry. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who holds a registered Space Merchant Realms account edits their album profile and submits a crafted 'Website' value pointing at an internal host or service (e.g., http://169.254.169.254/ or http://localhost:8080/). The server's isUrlReachable() function fetches that URL via curl, letting the attacker probe internal network reachability based on the returned status class. A public proof-of-concept has been disclosed, lowering the barrier to reproduction. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 19, 2026
Server-side request forgery in smrealms smr's Album Website feature lets a low-privileged authenticated user supply an arbitrary URL in the album 'Website' field, which is passed unvalidated to isUrlReachable() and fetched server-side via curl. The request is headers-only (CURLOPT_NOBODY) with a five-second timeout and the response body is never returned, so this is a blind SSRF that only reveals reachability and HTTP status class, limiting confidentiality impact. Exploitation requires an authenticated account (PR:L per the CVSS vector); publicly available exploit code exists, CVSS 4.0 base score is 5.3 (Medium), and the vendor has released a fix commit but the rolling-release model means no versioned patch is published.
RemediationAI
Apply the vendor fix commit cb402e7f4e70b617b59d8c55dbe926b951ceb4a8 (PR #2579) or a later smr build; upstream fix is available (PR/commit) but a released patched version is not independently confirmed because smr has no versioned releases. The fix removes the curl-based isUrlReachable() check, requires an https URL with a valid ASCII host, rejects embedded credentials and explicit ports, and HTML-escapes the website when displayed. If upgrading immediately is not possible, disable or remove the Album Website field/edit route, or enforce an allowlist of permitted website hosts before any server-side fetch. As a compensating control, apply outbound egress filtering from the PHP host to block RFC1918, loopback, link-local, and cloud metadata (169.254.169.254) destinations; note that egress filtering can be bypassed via open redirects or DNS rebinding and may break legitimate outbound features. Technical ContextAI · show details
smr (Space Merchant Realms) is a PHP web game; the Album Website editor in src/pages/Account/AlbumEditProcessor.php previously normalized the user-supplied Website value and called isUrlReachable(), which used curl_init() with CURLOPT_HEADER, CURLOPT_NOBODY, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, and a 5-second timeout to perform a HEAD request. Because the URL was not validated against internal address ranges or scheme restrictions, an authenticated album editor could force the server to connect to loopback, RFC1918, link-local, or cloud metadata endpoints, a classic CWE-918 server-side request forgery. The blind nature (no body returned, only status class) reduces data exfiltration but still enables network reconnaissance and interaction with internal services. The fix PR #2579 removes isUrlReachable() and uses Uri\WhatWg\Url parsing to require an https scheme, a non-null ASCII host, and reject embedded username/password and explicit ports; a related change HTML-escapes the stored website in src/lib/Smr/Album.php::getDisplayWebsite(). CPE cpe:2.3:a:smrealms:smr:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* reflects the unversioned rolling release.
