Authenticated tenant (PR:L) over the API (AV:N); AC:H reflects the required precondition of a pre-existing accepted share; C:H for exposure of a private workflow, with impact kept within Mistral's authority (S:U) to match the advisory's no-subsequent-impact rating.

2DescriptionCVE.org
In OpenStack Mistral through 23.0.0, the workflow membership API lets a project that has accepted a share of another project's private workflow create a further membership naming a third project. The new membership row is created with its project_id defaulted to the accepting project rather than the original workflow owner, and thus the owner can neither see nor delete it. The third project can accept this membership (that it had not actually been granted by the owner), and then read and execute the owner's private workflow; only the accepting (not the owning) project can later revoke that access.
AnalysisAI
An authenticated tenant (PR:L) can abuse OpenStack Mistral's workflow membership API to grant a third project read and execution access to another project's private workflow without the owner's consent. Exploitation requires an existing, already-accepted share of the target workflow plus a third project under the attacker's control or collusion to accept the forged membership, which causes the new membership row to be written with the accepting project's ID instead of the original owner's - leaving the owner unable to see or revoke it. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires an authenticated tenant (PR:L) whose project has ALREADY been granted and has accepted a share of the target's private workflow - the attacker cannot target arbitrary workflows, only ones already shared with them. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but moderate-priority multi-tenant authorization flaw (CWE-863), not an inflated high-CVSS issue. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Apply the fix referenced by OpenStack Security Advisory OSSA-2026-044 (https://security.openstack.org/ossa/OSSA-2026-044.html); the provided data does not confirm an exact patched version number, so validate the corrected release against the advisory and Launchpad bug 2161277 before upgrading - do not assume a specific version. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
