DescriptionCVE.org

vLLM versions >=0.10.2 and <0.28.0 do not apply any audio decode-size or duration limit when extracting audio from video input for NanoNemotronVL models. In nano_nemotron_vl.py, _extract_audio_from_videos calls load_audio_pyav(BytesIO(video_bytes)) without the max_duration_s or max_decode_bytes parameters, so neither VLLM_MAX_AUDIO_DECODE_DURATION_S nor VLLM_MAX_AUDIO_DECODE_BYTES is enforced (unlike the direct audio upload path in AudioMediaIO). When a NanoNemotronVL model is served with use_audio_in_video=True, an attacker who supplies a small, highly compressed video as multimodal input can force the server to allocate gigabytes of memory during audio decoding, resulting in a denial of service. Fixed in vLLM 0.28.0.

AnalysisAI

Unbounded audio extraction in vLLM 0.10.2-0.27.x enables remote denial of service against NanoNemotronVL model deployments. The root cause is an asymmetric protection gap: _extract_audio_from_videos in nano_nemotron_vl.py calls load_audio_pyav without the size or duration guard parameters enforced on the direct audio upload path, bypassing the VLLM_MAX_AUDIO_DECODE_DURATION_S and VLLM_MAX_AUDIO_DECODE_BYTES environment variable limits entirely. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The vulnerable code path is only reachable when all three conditions are met simultaneously: (1) vLLM version is >=0.10.2 and <0.28.0; (2) a NanoNemotronVL model is actively loaded and serving requests; and (3) the server is started with `use_audio_in_video=True`, which is a non-default opt-in flag. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment Real-world risk is moderate and tightly scoped by the deployment requirement. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to vLLM 0.28.0, confirmed by the GitHub GHSA-936p-m5pv-vvjf advisory as the fixed release. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
