vuln.today treats the vendor’s rating as authoritative. A higher third-party CVSS (e.g. CISA-ADP) is shown for transparency but does not drive the headline severity.

DescriptionCVE.org

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: ethernet: mtk_eth_soc: pass eth to mtk_handle_irq_rx in poll_controller

mtk_handle_irq_rx expects a struct mtk_eth * (matching the request_irq cookie), but mtk_poll_controller incorrectly passed the net_device *. Calling ndo_poll_controller with CONFIG_NET_POLL_CONTROLLER enabled would then crash.

AnalysisAI

Denial of service in the Linux kernel's MediaTek mtk_eth_soc Ethernet driver: mtk_poll_controller() passed a net_device pointer to mtk_handle_irq_rx(), which expects a struct mtk_eth pointer (the value registered as the request_irq cookie). When CONFIG_NET_POLL_CONTROLLER is enabled and the ndo_poll_controller path is exercised (e.g. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires the affected system to run the MediaTek mtk_eth_soc Ethernet driver AND have CONFIG_NET_POLL_CONTROLLER compiled in, and for the ndo_poll_controller/netpoll path to be exercised (e.g. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The provided CVSS 9.8 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/C:H/I:H/A:H) is not credible for this defect and should be treated as an auto-generated placeholder: the description describes a kernel crash reachable only through the ndo_poll_controller code path, not a network-triggerable memory-corruption primitive, so confidentiality and integrity impact are effectively nil and the vector is local rather than network. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Patch available per vendor advisory: update to a fixed stable kernel - 6.12.103, 6.18.44, 7.1.8, or 7.2 (or later in each series), corresponding to git.kernel.org stable commits 3bd58ac9ca0c, 276f1f180f55, 7eb46318d539 and e095f249e220. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI
