2DescriptionCVE.org
Velociraptor's WatchEvent gRPC API can specify the OrgId of the org from which events should be streamed. The server checks the API permissions against the caller's Org instead of the requested Org. This allows a user with API access in one org to read events from another org for which they have no access.
AnalysisAI
Cross-tenant event-stream disclosure in Rapid7 Velociraptor lets an authenticated API user who holds event-watching privileges in one organization read WatchEvent gRPC streams belonging to a different organization they are not authorized for, because the server validates permissions against the caller's own OrgId instead of the OrgId supplied in the request. Only multi-org (multi-tenant) deployments with more than one Org defined are meaningfully exposed; single-org installs have no other tenant to pivot to, and the impact is confidentiality-only with no write or denial-of-service effect. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires a multi-org (multi-tenant) Velociraptor deployment AND an attacker who already possesses valid API access with event-watching permission in at least one org; exploitation is performed by invoking the WatchEvent gRPC API with the OrgId of a target org the attacker is not authorized for. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a medium-severity, confidentiality-only cross-tenant authorization flaw (CWE-639, IDOR) in Velociraptor's WatchEvent gRPC API, where the server authorizes against the caller's OrgId instead of the requested OrgId. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Velociraptor to the fixed release identified in the vendor advisory at http://docs.velociraptor.app/announcements/advisories/cve-2026-78412; the available data does not name the exact patched version, so treat the advisory as the source of truth and verify the build before rollout. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
