DescriptionCVE.org

n8n before 1.123.69, 2.x before 2.33.4, and 2.x before 2.34.1 contain an allowed-domains bypass in the GraphQL node. When the node's Authentication parameter is set to expression mode, every authentication-gated credential selector is treated as active; if two credentials of different types are attached, the node enforces the allowed-domains policy of only the first credential while still attaching material from both. An authenticated user with workflow-authoring rights can thereby send a domain-restricted credential to an attacker-controlled endpoint, exfiltrating it with the leaked credential's permissions.

AnalysisAI

Credential exfiltration in n8n's GraphQL node allows authenticated workflow authors to bypass per-credential allowed-domains enforcement. When the node's Authentication parameter is set to expression mode and two credentials of different types are attached, the platform enforces the domain restriction of only the first credential while silently forwarding secret material from the second to any destination - including attacker-controlled endpoints. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires an authenticated n8n account with workflow-authoring (create or edit) rights - unauthenticated attackers cannot exploit this. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.1 reflects a moderate aggregate risk, anchored by AT:P (attack requirements present), which acknowledges that exploitation is conditional on a specific multi-credential expression-mode configuration that is not the default. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An authenticated n8n user with workflow-authoring rights creates or edits a workflow containing a GraphQL node, sets the Authentication parameter to expression mode, and attaches two credentials of different types - a domain-restricted credential belonging to a sensitive service and a second credential pointing to an attacker-controlled HTTPS endpoint. When the workflow executes, n8n enforces the allowed-domains policy of the first credential only and forwards the secret material of the second credential to the attacker's endpoint, completing exfiltration silently within the context of normal workflow activity. …
Remediation Upgrade to n8n 1.123.69 or later on the 1.x branch, or to 2.33.4 or 2.34.1 (or later) on the 2.x branch, as directed by vendor advisory GHSA-wcv8-x773-j96r at https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-wcv8-x773-j96r. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
