AC:H reflects race condition timing dependency; I:L captures limit-bypass without data exfiltration or resource exhaustion; AV:N because upload endpoint is network-accessible.

ecosystem impact- 3,334 npm packages depend on multer (1,244 direct, 2,112 indirect)
Ecosystem-wide dependent count for version 2.3.0.
DescriptionCVE.org
multer is a middleware for handling multipart/form-data in Node.js. When an application uses an asynchronous fileFilter together with the fileSize limit, a race condition in multer's file stream handling can allow a file that exceeds the configured size limit to bypass the size-limit rejection. All versions before 2.3.0 are affected. The impact is limited because the underlying multipart parser still truncates the stream at the size limit, so this is a bypass of the limit rejection rather than uncontrolled resource consumption. The issue is fixed in multer 2.3.0. Upgrade to multer 2.3.0 to remediate.

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the target application to be configured with BOTH an asynchronous fileFilter callback AND a fileSize limit option in the multer middleware configuration - applications using only one of these two settings are not vulnerable. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | CVSS 3.1 scores this at 3.7 (Low) with vector AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade multer to version 2.3.0, which resolves the race condition in file stream handling. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
