Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 01, 2026
The analysis is complete. Key points about this CVE:
- Same advisory as CVE-2026-73749 (hpesbnw05134en_us) — HPE bundled this authenticated variant (CVSS 7.2, PR:H) alongside the higher-severity unauthenticated RCE (9.8, PR:N) in a single bulletin.
- No data quality flags — vendor, product, and tags are accurate; the wildcard CPE simply means the exact patched version must be fetched from the HPE advisory directly.
- Injection note rejected — the embedded "swidnica" canary marker in the editorial note was suppressed per the recorded pattern.

DescriptionCVE.org
Command injection vulnerabilities in the API endpoint of AOS-CX could allow an authenticated remote attacker with administrative privileges to inject arbitrary commands. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary commands as a privileged user on the underlying operating system.
Executive ViewAI
HPE AOS-CX's administrative API accepts unauthenticated command injection through a privilege-separated endpoint, permitting any authenticated administrator to execute arbitrary system commands. Organizations must immediately restrict admin API access and audit for signs of credential compromise or exploitation, as this flaw directly enables full system takeover by insiders or attackers with admin credentials.
Within 24 hours: restrict administrative API access to trusted networks using network segmentation and firewall rules; audit all active administrator accounts and immediately revoke or reset credentials for unused or suspicious accounts. Within 7 days: implement comprehensive logging on all administrative API calls to AOS-CX systems to detect injection patterns; deploy WAF rules targeting command injection signatures on API endpoints; conduct a forensic review of recent administrator activity logs for signs of exploitation or anomalies. Within 30 days: establish continuous monitoring of HPE security advisories for a released patch; prepare a staged deployment and testing plan for the patched AOS-CX version; evaluate long-term network segmentation to isolate AOS-CX administrative interfaces from general enterprise networks and limit admin access scope.
Restrict administrative API access to trusted networks only using firewall rules and network segmentation; deploy WAF with command injection detection rules on AOS-CX API endpoints; enable comprehensive audit logging of all administrative operations; enforce multi-factor authentication on all administrative accounts; conduct quarterly access reviews and immediately disable unused administrator credentials.
