2DescriptionCVE.org
Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling (CWE-770) in Kibana can lead to denial of service via Excessive Allocation (CAPEC-130). An authenticated user with read-only privileges to the alerting feature could submit a specially crafted, malformed payload that causes the Kibana process to consume excessive resources. A single request is sufficient to leave Kibana unable to serve requests for all users until the process is restarted.
AnalysisAI
Denial of service in Elastic Kibana's alerting feature allows an authenticated user with read-only alerting privileges to crash the Kibana process for all users by submitting a single crafted malformed payload. The resource exhaustion is unbounded - a single HTTP request is sufficient to render Kibana unable to serve any users until the process is manually restarted. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid Kibana user account with at least read-only privileges to the alerting feature - unauthenticated access is not sufficient. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 score of 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H) accurately reflects the attack profile: network-reachable, low complexity, requiring only low-privilege authentication - specifically read-only access to the alerting feature. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Kibana to version 8.19.20 (for the 8.x release train) or 9.4.5 (for the 9.x release train) per vendor advisory ESA-2026-106 at https://discuss.elastic.co/t/kibana-8-19-20-9-4-5-security-update-esa-2026-106/389522. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
