DescriptionCVE.org

libvips is a fast image processing library with low memory needs. Prior to version 8.18.3, libvips built without libtiff support but with ImageMagick support can overflow the combined frame height while loading a crafted multi-page TIFF through VipsForeignLoadMagick. The vulnerable calculations in libvips/foreign/magick6load.c and libvips/foreign/magick7load.c multiply the per-page Ysize by n_frames without a checked bound, which can cause a heap buffer over-read and process crash. Most package-manager builds include libtiff and do not use this affected fallback path. This issue is fixed in version 8.18.3.

AnalysisAI

Integer overflow to heap over-read in libvips prior to 8.18.3 crashes the image processing process when a crafted multi-page TIFF is loaded through the ImageMagick fallback path. The unchecked multiplication out->Ysize *= magick->n_frames in vips_foreign_load_magick_parse() wraps on attacker-controlled input, producing an underflowed buffer dimension that drives a subsequent heap over-read and process crash. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Three conditions must be met simultaneously. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 6.9 (AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L) accurately reflects the constrained exploitability. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to libvips 8.18.3 or later, which resolves the overflow via `g_uint64_checked_mul()` and a `VIPS_MAX_COORD` bound check in `vips_foreign_load_magick_parse()`. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
