DescriptionCVE.org

Impact

A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in Ghost Admin allowed any staff-level user to perform a blind HTTP GET request against internal hosts. No output was returned, but this could have been used to probe open ports on internal hosts.

Vulnerable versions

This vulnerability is present in Ghost from v0.10.0 up to v6.54.0.

Patches

v6.54.1 contains a fix for this issue.

How to update

For self-hosters using Docker, find Docker's official Ghost image here. Updating a Docker-based Ghost instance is documented here.

If your Ghost is a Ghost-CLI install see our documentation on updating it to the latest version here.

AnalysisAI

Blind SSRF in Ghost Admin's image-size fetching module allows any authenticated staff-level user to issue arbitrary HTTP GET requests from the Ghost server to internal network hosts. Affecting all Ghost npm releases from v0.10.0 through v6.54.0, the flaw resided in the image dimension detection code path, which used an unprotected generic HTTP client with no SSRF controls when fetching external images for certain formats requiring a full response buffer. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation strictly requires an authenticated Ghost Admin session with at minimum the staff role - this is not exploitable by anonymous visitors, subscribers, or contributors without Admin panel access. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The vendor-assigned CVSS 3.1 score of 4.1 (Medium) with vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N is well-calibrated to the actual impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to Ghost v6.54.1 or later, the vendor-confirmed fix version per GHSA-gcvv-72q8-9v76. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
