| Exploitation Conditions | No special conditions in the default configuration - remote unauthenticated exploitation works against default installations of AVideo-Encoder (WWBN) prior to 8.1.0 because there is no global authentication layer, the shipped .htaccess denies only .git/*.log/avideo.log, and Login::canBulkEncode() returns true whenever the disableBulkEncode setting is empty (the default). The specific prerequisite for the file-enumeration vector is that the attacker-supplied path resolves via realpath() to a directory readable by the web-server user; status.php memory leakage requires the serverStatus request path. Limiting factors that reduce realistic impact: file enumeration is restricted to configured media extensions and returns only file names and paths, not file contents (no arbitrary file disclosure); setting disableBulkEncode would restrict listFiles access; and overall impact is bounded to control-plane actions and information exposure rather than code execution. Network reachability of the encoder document root is required. |
| Impact | The vendor CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L, 7.3 High) is internally consistent with the described flaw: a missing global authentication layer (CWE-306/CWE-862) that leaves control and status endpoints reachable by anonymous network callers in the default configuration (disableBulkEncode empty, .htaccess blocking only .git/*.log). PR:N is justified because the shipped defaults admit anonymous callers, and AC:L is justified because exploitation is simple HTTP requests with no special timing or grooming described. The impacts are correctly scoped as Low across C/I/A: confidentiality is limited to queue data, streamer site URLs, host memory statistics and media file names/paths (the advisory explicitly notes enumeration does not disclose arbitrary file contents), and integrity/availability are limited to driving the privileged queue processor rather than code execution. The vuln.today priority label is 'this_week' (not act_now/emergency), which aligns with a serious-but-not-catastrophic information-exposure and control-plane flaw. No EPSS score and no CISA KEV status were provided in the input, so real-world exploitation probability cannot be quantified from this data; absence of KEV means there is no evidence of active exploitation. A public PoC reference exists in the GitHub Security Advisory (working curl commands), raising practical exploitability above the EPSS-unknown baseline. Net: this is a genuine priority for exposed AVideo-Encoder instances because it is unauthenticated, network-reachable, default-config-exploitable, and has published PoC steps - but the capped Low impacts keep it below critical-severity remote-code-execution class issues. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An unauthenticated attacker who can reach an internet- or network-exposed AVideo-Encoder sends simple anonymous HTTP requests to view/run.php, view/queue.json.php, view/status.php and view/listFiles.json.php to drive the queue processor, read the job queue and streamer site URLs, leak host memory statistics, and enumerate media file names and paths in any directory the web-server user can read. A public PoC reference with working curl commands exists in the GitHub Security Advisory; it is not separately verified in this input as a packaged working exploit. The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N) indicates no authentication, no user interaction and low attack complexity, so the requests succeed against default installations. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 28, 2026
Unauthenticated remote attackers can drive AVideo-Encoder's privileged queue processor and read its control and status plane in default installations prior to 8.1.0. Because the application ships no global authentication layer (the bundled .htaccess denies only .git, *.log and avideo.log), the PHP endpoints view/run.php, view/queue.json.php, view/status.php and view/listFiles.json.php are directly reachable and perform their privileged actions for anonymous callers - invoking Encoder::run(), disclosing the job queue and every streamer site URL, returning host memory statistics with a wildcard Access-Control-Allow-Origin header, and enumerating media file names and paths in any directory readable by the web-server user. Impact is bounded to control-plane manipulation and information exposure (no code execution, and enumeration is limited to configured media extensions and does not return file contents); a public PoC reference with anonymous curl requests exists in the vendor advisory, but it is not verified as working exploit code and there is no KEV listing, with priority assessed as remediation this week and a vendor fix available in 8.1.0.
RemediationAI
Upgrade AVideo-Encoder to 8.1.0, which is the vendor-released patch and is available now (release tag https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo-Encoder/releases/tag/v8.1.0; fix commit ac6097cd5fa7a24df82293bff66b136d559c16db adds Login::isLogged()/canUpload()/canBulkEncode() enforcement to view/run.php, view/queue.json.php, view/status.php and view/listFiles.json.php and drops the wildcard Access-Control-Allow-Origin header from status.php). If upgrading must be deferred, the actionable compensating control is to block anonymous network access to the encoder's control endpoints at the web server or reverse proxy - deny /view/run.php, /view/queue.json.php, /view/status.php and /view/listFiles.json.php to untrusted clients while leaving the legitimate encoder workflow reachable - with the trade-off that any external or automated tooling that posts to those endpoints breaks; additionally, populating the disableBulkEncode setting makes Login::canBulkEncode() return false and closes the listFiles.json.php enumeration vector, but this does not protect run.php, queue.json.php or status.php, which had no authentication check whatsoever before 8.1.0. As always with this class of flaw, limiting network reachability of the encoder document root reduces exposure, but updating to 8.1.0 is the complete fix.

Technical ContextAI · show details
AVideo-Encoder is a PHP component of the AVideo video-sharing platform; its document root is web-served directly, and the project ships no site-wide authentication gate, so every PHP file under it is reachable unless individually guarded. This is CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Function) chained with CWE-862 (Missing Authorization): view/run.php has a commented-out guard before calling Encoder::run() (objects/Encoder.php, privileged queue processor), view/queue.json.php performs no auth check at all and calls Encoder::getAll(true) plus getSiteURL() and execRun(), and view/status.php likewise performs no auth check while emitting a wildcard Access-Control-Allow-Origin header, reading and triggering the queue, and exposing ServerMonitor::getMemory() output when serverStatus is requested. view/listFiles.json.php is nominally gated by Login::canBulkEncode(), which in objects/Login.php returned true whenever the disableBulkEncode setting was empty - the default - so it admitted anyone; the endpoint then resolves an attacker-supplied path parameter with realpath() without any base-directory constraint and lists it with scandir(), filtering results to the configured media extension allowlist. The supplied path is not covered by any security filter list. The upstream fix adds isLogged()/canUpload()/canBulkEncode() checks to these endpoints and removes the wildcard CORS header.

AVideo is a video-sharing Platform. Prior to 8.1.0, the encoder lacks a global authentication layer and exposes control and status PHP endpoints to anonymous network callers. view/run.php has a commented-out guard and invokes Encoder::run(). view/queue.json.php calls Encoder::getAll(true), reveals streamer URLs through getSiteURL(), and triggers processing with execRun(). view/status.php returns Access-Control-Allow-Origin with a wildcard, reads the queue, triggers processing, and exposes host memory statistics through ServerMonitor::getMemory() when serverStatus is set. view/listFiles.json.php checks only Login::canBulkEncode(), which admits anonymous callers whenever disableBulkEncode is empty, the default. Its path parameter is resolved with realpath() and listed with scandir() without a base-directory restriction. An unauthenticated attacker can drive the privileged queue processor, read queue and streamer-site information, obtain memory statistics and enumerate media file names and paths in any directory readable by the web-server user. Enumeration is limited to configured media extensions and does not itself disclose arbitrary file contents. This issue is fixed in version 8.1.0.

Executive ViewAI
The AVideo-Encoder platform, used for video encoding and streaming management, contains a high-severity vulnerability (CVE-2026-61571) that allows unauthenticated attackers to manipulate encoding queues and access sensitive operational data, including streamer URLs and server memory statistics. This affects all default installations prior to version 8.1.0, exposing internal control-plane functions and potentially compromising service availability and confidentiality for media operations. Leadership should prioritize this issue because it directly undermines the integrity of video delivery workflows and could lead to reputational and operational disruptions.
Apply vendor patch.
