Admin credentials required (PR:H); scope change because kernel process can delete OS files beyond application boundary; no confidentiality impact since deletion does not expose data.

DescriptionCVE.org

SiYuan versions before v3.7.4 contain an arbitrary file deletion vulnerability in the /api/search/removeTemplate endpoint that accepts an unvalidated path parameter passed directly to os.RemoveAll. Authenticated admin attackers can supply absolute filesystem paths to recursively delete any file or directory the kernel process has permission to remove, anywhere on the host filesystem.

AnalysisAI

Arbitrary file deletion in SiYuan before v3.7.4 allows authenticated administrators to recursively destroy any file or directory accessible to the SiYuan kernel process by supplying an unsanitized absolute path to the /api/search/removeTemplate endpoint, which passes the value directly to Go's os.RemoveAll. All SiYuan releases prior to v3.7.4 are confirmed affected per vendor advisory GHSA-w938-w7m4-qrj8. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires valid SiYuan administrator credentials - confirmed by the CVSS PR:H metric. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.4 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N) reflects a real but constrained threat: exploitation requires valid admin-level credentials, which limits the attacker population to insiders, credential-theft scenarios, or compromised sessions. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to SiYuan v3.7.4 or later - the vendor-released patch that resolves this issue, as confirmed by the advisory at https://github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/security/advisories/GHSA-w938-w7m4-qrj8. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory all SiYuan deployments to identify versions prior to v3.7.4 and audit administrative account privileges, removing unnecessary escalations to limit exposure. …
