1 technique across 1 tactic: Initial Access

The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up.

Exploitation Conditions

No authentication or user interaction required: deletar_socios.php is an unauthenticated GET endpoint whose only gate is a sha256 match against the hardcoded chave_correta string, which is committed in the public WeGIA source repository and therefore known to any attacker. Concrete prerequisites limiting exploitation are: (1) the target must run WeGIA prior to version 3.8.5 (the fix deletes the file entirely); (2) the endereco, pessoafisica, pessoajuridica, and socio tables must exist; and (3) the web process's database account must hold TRUNCATE privileges. There is no non-default configuration or admin session needed - exposure is inherent to any vulnerable deployment reachable over the network.

Impact

This is a genuinely high-severity, low-friction data-destruction flaw. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H, 9.1) is well-supported: the endpoint is a plain unauthenticated GET, and the only gate is a sha256 comparison against a hardcoded chave_correta string that is committed in the PUBLIC WeGIA source repository - so the 'secret' provides no meaningful barrier and PR:N is correct. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or public POC was provided, so there is no evidence of active exploitation; per precision rules this is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' However, the supplied commit diff plus the plaintext key effectively constitute an exploitation recipe, lowering the barrier to weaponization considerably. Impact is destroy-only: C:N (no data is read/exfiltrated), I:H and A:H (TRUNCATE permanently wipes the endereco, pessoafisica, pessoajuridica, and socio tables). The main thing tempering real-world risk is deployment footprint - WeGIA is an obscure academic open-source project - not the technical severity, which is real for any organization actually running it.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker reads the hardcoded chave_correta value ('h)8^#w4T<HaN-GSc&BM3[<?mvG[R?b') directly from the public LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA GitHub repository, then sends a single unauthenticated GET request to deletar_socios.php with ?chave=<that value>. The sha256 comparison passes and the endpoint runs TRUNCATE TABLE against the member and contributor tables, permanently destroying all records. No POC is published, but the commit diff and the embedded secret make the attack trivially reproducible.

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 17, 2026

Unauthenticated, unauthenticated-by-design HTTP GET requests to WeGIA's deletar_socios.php endpoint before version 3.8.5 can irrevocably wipe member and contributor records, because the endpoint's only gate is a SHA-256 comparison against a hardcoded key string that ships in the public source repository and is therefore known to any attacker who reads the code. Per the CVSS 3.1 vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N, no session, credential, or user interaction is needed; the practical limits are that the target must run a pre-3.8.5 release, the endereco, pessoafisica, pessoajuridica, and socio tables must exist, and the web process's database account must hold TRUNCATE privileges. With a CVSS base score of 9.1 and integrity/availability impact rated High (and no confidentiality impact), the flaw is a low-friction data-destruction issue; no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis and the issue is not in CISA KEV, though the required key value is exposed by design in the repository. Vendor-released patch: 3.8.5.

RemediationAI

Upgrade WeGIA to 3.8.5 or later (https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/releases/tag/3.8.5), which removes deletar_socios.php entirely per commit 84d9d0a7c66c29b238ab381ffcfb9e0ce260796a and PR https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/pull/1689; the vendor advisory is at https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/security/advisories/GHSA-399w-rxhp-jh9f. If immediate upgrade is not possible, apply layered compensating controls: (1) block the exact path at the web server or reverse proxy - return 403/404 for /web/html/socio/sistema/controller/deletar_socios.php and, more broadly, deny direct HTTP access to any .php file under the controller directories - with the trade-off that this is path-specific and will not protect renamed copies of the script or other unauthenticated controllers; (2) strip DDL privileges from the application's database account (REVOKE TRUNCATE, DROP, and ALTER) so that even if the check is bypassed the TRUNCATE statements fail - the trade-off is that any legitimate schema-maintenance or reset tooling that relies on those privileges will break and must be run under a separate administrative account; (3) front the WeGIA instance with authentication at the network or reverse-proxy layer if it must remain internet-reachable, accepting that this changes the access model for all users. Because the gate value is public, rotating it provides no protection. Regardless of mitigation chosen, verify that a recent, restorable backup of the endereco, pessoafisica, pessoajuridica, and socio tables exists, since TRUNCATE cannot be rolled back and destroys data in place.

Technical ContextAI · show details

WeGIA is a PHP web application (the project is tagged PHP and Authentication Bypass) whose socio module previously exposed web/html/socio/sistema/controller/deletar_socios.php, a script that connects via conexao.php and performs destructive database maintenance. The root cause class is CWE-306, Missing Authentication for Critical Function: the script never establishes a session, checks a role, or validates an application authorization token. Its sole control was a comparison of hash('sha256', $_GET['chave']) against hash('sha256', $chave_correta), where $chave_correta was a literal string ('h)8^#w4T<HaN-GSc&BM3[<?mvG[R?b') committed to the public GitHub repository - a shared-secret check with no confidentiality, giving an attacker who reads the source exactly the material needed to satisfy it. Once the check passed, the code issued SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0, looped over the hardcoded table list endereco, pessoafisica, pessoajuridica, and socio, and ran TRUNCATE TABLE against each via mysqli_query, restoring SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=1 afterward. TRUNCATE is a DDL operation, so it is not transaction-rollback recoverable and it resets auto-increment counters, which is why the impact is rated High on both Integrity and Availability with None on Confidentiality. The upstream commit 84d9d0a7c66c29b238ab381ffcfb9e0ce260796a resolves the flaw by deleting the file outright (the diff shows the full 35-line script removed, 0 insertions), rather than by adding an authentication gate - confirming the endpoint had no legitimate authorized use case. A CPE string was not supplied in the available data, so affectedness should be established by WeGIA version and by checking for the presence of the controller file.

CRITICAL 9.1

DescriptionCVE.org

WeGIA is a web manager for charitable institutions. Prior to 3.8.5, web/html/socio/sistema/controller/deletar_socios.php exposes an unauthenticated GET endpoint whose chave parameter is checked only against a hardcoded chave_correta value embedded in the public source repository. A remote attacker who obtains that value can reach the endpoint's TRUNCATE TABLE operations for the endereco, pessoafisica, pessoajuridica, and socio tables without an administrative session or application authorization, permanently destroying member and contributor records. The attack requires the affected tables to exist and the web process database account to possess truncation privileges. This issue is fixed in version 3.8.5.

Technical POC Analysis

The flaw is CWE-306, Missing Authentication for Critical Function, combined with CWE-798, Use of Hard-coded Credentials.

Full technical POC analysis - root cause, step-by-step exploitation and patch breakdown - is part of the Pro and Business plans.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

WeGIA installations running releases earlier than 3.8.5 can have their entire member and contributor records permanently erased by a single unauthenticated HTTP request, and the deletion cannot be undone. The only protection is a secret key value that is published in the project's public source code, so any actor able to reach the application already possesses everything needed to trigger the wipe. Leadership should treat this as a data-integrity and business-continuity risk: the loss of membership records would disrupt billing, communications, eligibility tracking, and any downstream reporting that depends on that data.

Business Impact: Severe
Compensating Controls

No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: block or deny network access to deletar_socios.php at the perimeter or reverse proxy; revoke TRUNCATE privileges from the web application's database account; isolate affected instances from untrusted networks; maintain verified, tested backups on a separate system so records can be restored if wiped; enable logging and alerting on requests to destructive endpoints.
