Klever-Go is the Go implementation of the Klever blockchain protocol. Versions from 1.7.14 through 1.7.17 are vulnerable to a remotely triggerable denial of service. Both REST APIs are started with the Gin Engine.Run convenience method, which serves requests through Go's default HTTP server with no ReadHeaderTimeout, ReadTimeout, or MaxHeaderBytes configured. As a result, incoming connections that never complete their request headers are held open indefinitely. When a REST listener is reachable beyond localhost through the documented all-interface bind or a Docker port-publish deployment, a single unauthenticated client can open many slow-header connections and hold them open until server file descriptors are exhausted, preventing the API from accepting new connections. This renders the REST API unavailable to legitimate clients. This issue is fixed in version 1.7.18.
AnalysisAI
REST API connection exhaustion in Klever-Go versions 1.7.14 through 1.7.17 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to render node API services unavailable by holding slow-header connections open until server file descriptors are exhausted. The root cause is Gin's Engine.Run convenience method, which delegates to Go's default http.ListenAndServe without any ReadHeaderTimeout, ReadTimeout, or MaxHeaderBytes configured, leaving incoming connections open indefinitely if the client never completes request headers. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires that the REST API listener is bound to a non-localhost interface, which occurs in two documented deployment scenarios: use of the --rest-api-interface :8080 flag (documented as the default binding example in cmd/node/CLI.md and cmd/seednode/CLI.md, binding all interfaces) or Docker deployments following the official docker/README.md examples that publish host port 8080. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H and base score of 7.5 accurately characterize this vulnerability: fully network-reachable, trivially low complexity, requiring no authentication or user interaction, with full availability impact and no confidentiality or integrity loss. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | The primary fix is to upgrade to Klever-Go v1.7.18, a coordinated security release that replaces the Engine.Run pattern with an explicit http.Server configured with ReadHeaderTimeout, ReadTimeout, and MaxHeaderBytes limits. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all systems running Klever-Go versions 1.7.14 through 1.7.17 in production and implement network-level connection limits or WAF rules to restrict slow-header connections as interim protection. …
