DescriptionCVE.org

Stomper 5e2741e is vulnerable to Denial of Service. When a broker sends data to a client whose TCP connection was already closed by the peer, the server process receives SIGPIPE and immediately terminates, resulting in a denial of service. Any unauthenticated client can trigger the crash by closing the socket at specific points.

AnalysisAI

Stomper at commit 5e2741e crashes its server process when a broker attempts to write data to a TCP socket already closed by the client peer, delivering a SIGPIPE signal that the process does not handle, causing immediate termination. Any unauthenticated remote client can reliably trigger this by closing the socket at the right moment during a broker-to-client transmission, making the denial-of-service condition automatable. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation No authentication is required - any client that can reach the Stomper broker's TCP port can trigger the crash. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 score of 7.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H) accurately reflects the network-reachable, unauthenticated, low-complexity nature of the trigger, and the high availability impact of a full process crash. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation No vendor-released patched version has been identified at the time of analysis; the fix version is not independently confirmed from the available references. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, audit network exposure of all Stomper instances and implement firewall or network segmentation rules restricting TCP access to known, authorized broker systems only; enable detailed logging of abnormal connection terminations. …
