HIGH 7.6

Description

Transient DOS when receiving a service data frame with excessive length during device matching over a neighborhood awareness network protocol connection.

Analysis

Buffer over-read (CWE-126) in Qualcomm Snapdragon devices causes denial-of-service when processing malformed Neighborhood Awareness Networking (NAN) service data frames with excessive length values. Attack requires network proximity, high attacker privileges, user interaction, and high complexity (CVSS 7.6), yielding CVSS scope change with potential high confidentiality/integrity impact beyond availability disruption. …

Remediation

Within 24 hours: Identify and inventory all Snapdragon devices in production (mobile devices, IoT sensors, automotive systems, enterprise equipment) and map network access controls around Wi-Fi protocol layers. Within 7 days: Restrict Wi-Fi protocol-level access to trusted networks only; isolate Snapdragon devices on segmented VLANs if feasible; configure wireless intrusion detection to monitor for malformed NAN frames. …
