AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
PR:N since no authentication is needed, but AC:H because the attacker must already control a host in the configured external database access list - a precondition outside their control; root RCE gives C/I/A:H.

2DescriptionNVD
A vulnerability in the External Database Access feature of Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands as root on an affected device.
This vulnerability is due to insecure deserialization of a user-supplied Java byte stream from a host that is configured in the external database access list. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted, serialized Java byte stream to a specific TCP port of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the device and elevate privileges to root. Notes:
This vulnerability can be exploited only by an attacker who has control of a host in the external database access list. If the FMC management interface does not have public internet access, the attack surface that is associated with this vulnerability is reduced.
AnalysisAI
Unauthenticated remote command execution as root affects Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software that has the External Database Access feature configured, via insecure deserialization of a crafted Java byte stream sent to the feature's TCP port (CWE-502). Vendor scoring is 9.8 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N), while our independent assessment rates it AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N because exploitation additionally requires the attacker to control a host already listed in the external database access list and to reach that specific port - a trust relationship that gates who can hit the vulnerable endpoint. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires (1) the External Database Access feature of Cisco Secure FMC to be configured, and (2) the attacker to control a host that is already listed in the external database access list - a trust relationship that gates who can even reach the vulnerable deserialization endpoint. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuinely serious vulnerability by shape: unauthenticated (CVSS PR:N) remote (AV:N) insecure Java deserialization (CWE-502) yielding arbitrary command execution as root on Cisco Secure FMC, scoring vendor 9.8 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Patch available per vendor advisory: apply the Cisco Secure FMC software release specified in cisco-sa-fmc-javarce-y2NypXwk (https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-fmc-javarce-y2NypXwk); the advisory carries the exact fixed versions and should be consulted before upgrading, since the supplied data does not enumerate a fix version. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, identify all Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) deployments that have the External Database Access feature enabled and verify whether the management interface is exposed to the public internet; if the feature is not essential, disable it immediately and block access to the associated TCP port from untrusted networks. …
