DescriptionNVD

A vulnerability in the access control list (ACL) Object Group Search (OGS) implementation of Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass configured access controls.

This vulnerability is due to a logic error in populating group access control policies (ACPs) with OGS configured. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending traffic that should be blocked through the device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to bypass access controls and reach devices in protected networks.

AnalysisAI

Access-control bypass in Cisco Secure Firewall ASA and Threat Defense (FTD) software allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to push traffic that should be blocked through the device and reach hosts in networks the firewall is meant to protect. The defect is a logic error in how group access control policies (ACPs) are populated when the Access Control List Object Group Search (OGS) feature is enabled, so it only manifests on devices that both enable OGS and rely on group objects in their ACLs. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires that the affected ASA/FTD device have the Access Control List Object Group Search (OGS) feature enabled AND use group access control policies (ACPs) - the logic error only manifests in that specific configuration, so devices without OGS are not affected. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuine but moderate-severity access-control bypass, not a critical priority. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Apply the fixed ASA or FTD release identified in Cisco Security Advisory cisco-sa-ftd-acl-bypass-8p6vFvw; no exact fixed version number is confirmed in the available data, so treat the advisory's software-version table as the source of truth. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
