Exploitation Conditions

No special conditions beyond network reachability - the POST /api/v2/oauth/authorize route in oauth.controller.ts was guarded only by the authentication-optional global guard and carried no access-control decorator, so a default deployment with the OAuth module exposed accepts anonymous requests (client_id, redirect_uri, approved=true) and inserts a record because the user foreign key is nullable. The key LIMITING factors, per the advisory, are: the endpoint rate limiter bounds how many ownerless rows can be created; no access token is ever issued (the token exchange fails on the undefined user), and no data is exposed, so impact is confined to junk authorization-code records rather than account compromise. Exploitation requires that the instance exposes the OAuth authorize endpoint and runs a version at or above 0.300.0 and below 2026.08.0.

Impact

This is a genuinely low-to-moderate priority issue despite the missing-authentication classification. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N) correctly reflects that the POST /api/v2/oauth/authorize endpoint is reachable by remote, unauthenticated attackers with no user interaction over the network, but the impact metrics are the decisive signal: VC:N/VI:L/VA:N, meaning no confidentiality loss, only low integrity impact, and no availability impact. The GHSA advisory (GHSA-532v-ccph-m3xg) is explicit that the flaw does NOT extend into a usable OAuth grant - the subsequent token exchange resolves the absent user to nothing and fails, so no access token is ever minted and no data is exposed. The only real-world effect is insertion of unbounded ownerless authorization-code rows, bounded by the endpoint's rate limiter. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or SSVC automatable/technical-impact fields were supplied; the only priority signal is vuln.today's 'this_month' decision label, which is consistent with a patch-this-cycle rather than drop-everything issue. There is no KEV entry and no PoC/exploit reference in the input, so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis. Net: a real but bounded data-integrity/junk-row nuisance, not a high-urgency account-takeover or data-exposure vulnerability. The headline 6.9 and CWE-306 label somewhat overstate operational risk relative to the confirmed no-token, no-data-exposure impact.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

A remote unauthenticated attacker sends anonymous POST requests to /api/v2/oauth/authorize with client_id, redirect_uri and approved=true, causing the server to insert authorization-code records that have no associated user. Repeating this (subject only to the endpoint rate limiter) lets the attacker accumulate unbounded ownerless rows in the authorization-code store, a database-integrity/junk-data problem. No public exploit was identified in the provided sources, and per the vendor advisory no access token can be obtained and no data is exposed through this path.

AnalysisAIv1 – Nov 03, 2026

Missing authentication on the POST /api/v2/oauth/authorize handler in NocoDB 0.300.0 through versions before 2026.08.0 lets remote attackers create OAuth authorization-code records with no associated user, because the route was guarded only by an authentication-optional global guard and carried no access-control decorator. The advisory is explicit that the flow never extends into a usable grant: the subsequent token exchange resolves the absent user to nothing and fails before any token is issued, so no access token can be obtained and no data is exposed through this path. Impact is therefore confined to unbounded ownerless authorization-code rows - bounded only by the endpoint's rate limiter - plus a server error where an authentication failure was appropriate; no public exploit identified at time of analysis, and the reported CVSS 4.0 score of 6.9 (our assessed CVSS 3.1 vector scores this as a low-integrity-impact issue) reflects a low-to-moderate priority rather than an account-compromise path.

RemediationAI

Upgrade to NocoDB 2026.08.0 or later, which is the vendor-released fix per GHSA-532v-ccph-m3xg and the 2026.08.0 release tag; the code change is in commit 42128735eba328d157c2e90b98795cb248dc0847 and the advisory at https://github.com/nocodb/nocodb/security/advisories/GHSA-532v-ccph-m3xg should be tracked for confirmation. Until upgrading, reduce exposure by restricting network access to the API path /api/v2/oauth/authorize at a reverse proxy or WAF so that only trusted clients reach it - the trade-off is that legitimate OAuth consent flows from untrusted networks will break; keep the endpoint's rate limiter enabled and tuned, since per the advisory it is the only bound on how many ownerless authorization-code rows an anonymous caller can insert; and monitor the authorization-code table for rows with a null user id as a detection signal, which surfaces abuse but does not prevent the inserts. No fixed version is available for branches below 2026.08.0 according to the provided data, so upgrading the instance is the only complete remediation.

Technical ContextAI · show details

NocoDB is a no-code database platform whose NestJS backend exposes OAuth endpoints under /api/v2/oauth, implemented in packages/nocodb/src/modules/oauth/controllers/oauth.controller.ts. The root cause is CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Function); the vendor advisory also classifies it under CWE-287, CWE-346 and CWE-602. The authorize route relied solely on the global authentication guard, which is authentication-optional by construction and never denies a request, and the handler carried no access-control decorator of its own. An anonymous POST supplying client_id, redirect_uri and approved=true therefore reached the authorization-code service with an undefined user id, and because the user foreign key on the authorization-code record is nullable the insert succeeded. The design limited the consequences: the token exchange that would consume such a code resolves the missing user to nothing and fails before minting a token, and the GET variant of the route only redirects to the consent page without creating a code. The practical weakness is thus an unbounded-insert / missing-authorization-check defect on a state-changing endpoint rather than an authentication bypass leading to session or data access.

DescriptionCVE.org

NocoDB 0.300.0 before 2026.08.0 contains a missing authentication vulnerability in the POST /api/v2/oauth/authorize handler that allows unauthenticated attackers to create OAuth authorization codes. Attackers can send anonymous requests with client_id, redirect_uri and approved=true to insert unbounded ownerless authorization code records, limited only by rate limiting.
