| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated workspace administrator account (CVSS PR:H) with access to the /datasource/importToDb endpoint; it is not reachable by anonymous or low-privilege users. The attacker must supply a crafted filePath (absolute path or ../ sequences) that the server joins onto the upload directory without containment validation. A practical limit on impact is that the targeted file must be parseable as CSV or a spreadsheet to be imported into the excel_* tables and read back, so arbitrary binary or non-tabular files are not straightforwardly disclosed. The fix in commit 3d15c67 enforces that the resolved path stays within the upload base directory, so updating to the patched build removes the condition; the vendor patch is the stated remediation. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity, high-privilege information-disclosure flaw rather than a top-tier emergency. The vendor CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:L) scores 5.1 and is internally consistent with the description: network-reachable, low complexity, but requiring PR:H - the attacker must already hold a workspace administrator account, which is the single largest limiting factor. There is no EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no SSVC decision in the supplied data; the only priority signal is vuln.today's 'this_month' label, which aligns with 'patch in normal cycle' rather than act_now/emergency. A patch commit is confirmed and the issue was reported by a credible source (VulnCheck). The GitHub issue reference (#1434) documents the flaw but is not confirmed as working exploit code, so active or widespread exploitation should not be assumed. Net: a real but bounded issue - the PR:H requirement and the CSV/spreadsheet parsing constraint (only files that parse as a spreadsheet become readable) keep real-world risk below what a raw 'path traversal / arbitrary file read' label might suggest. No key signals conflict; the main gap is the absence of EPSS/KEV/SSVC to gauge exploitation likelihood. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A malicious or compromised workspace administrator calls the /datasource/importToDb endpoint and supplies a filePath containing ../ sequences or an absolute path instead of a legitimate upload name. The server joins this directly onto the upload directory (os.path.join(path, import_req.filePath)) with no containment check, so the attacker imports another workspace's upload or a server-side file that parses as CSV/spreadsheet into a queryable excel_* table and then reads it back. A public GitHub issue (#1434) describes the vulnerability, but no verified working exploit code is identified in the provided data. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Nov 03, 2026
Path traversal in SQLBot through 1.10.3 allows an authenticated workspace administrator to read files outside the upload directory by supplying an absolute path or ../ sequences in the filePath parameter of the /datasource/importToDb endpoint, with the imported content materialized into queryable excel_* tables. Impact is confidentiality-only and practically constrained: the targeted file must parse as CSV or a spreadsheet, so arbitrary binaries are not straightforwardly disclosed, and the attacker must already hold a high-privilege admin role (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N). The published score is 5.1 (CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N); a vendor fix exists in commit 3d15c67 and no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, so this is a moderate-severity, high-privilege information-disclosure issue slotted for this-month remediation rather than an emergency.
RemediationAI
Patch available per vendor advisory: apply the upstream fix in commit 3d15c67b4de6ed9420daa9a34e4dc371ebbf4765 (https://github.com/dataease/SQLBot/commit/3d15c67b4de6ed9420daa9a34e4dc371ebbf4765), which resolves the client-supplied filePath with os.path.realpath and rejects any path that does not stay under the realpath of the upload base directory, including the base directory itself and null-byte payloads. No tagged release version is stated in the available data, so confirm with the vendor issue https://github.com/dataease/SQLBot/issues/1434 or the VulnCheck advisory which build carries the fix before treating a deployment as remediated. The vendor patch is the stated remediation; scheduling it within the current month matches the this_month decision label. Until the fix is deployed, the exposure is bounded by the prerequisite that the attacker must already be a workspace administrator able to call /datasource/importToDb, so limiting who holds workspace-admin rights and auditing that endpoint for unusual filePath values (absolute paths or ../ sequences) reduces the window without changing functionality for legitimate imports, at the cost of narrower administrative access and the need to review existing excel_* tables for imports that originated outside the expected upload directory.

SQLBot is a DataEase project with a Python/FastAPI backend (CPE cpe:2.3:a:dataease:sqlbot:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*, version-bounded only by the advisory text 'through 1.10.3'). The vulnerable code sits in backend/apps/datasource/api/datasource.py around lines 580-585, where the import handler computes save_path = os.path.join(path, import_req.filePath) with path being the server-side excel upload directory and filePath taken directly from the client request body. Because os.path.join discards the base when the second component is absolute, and because ../ sequences are never normalized or containment-checked, the joined path can resolve to files belonging to other workspaces' uploads or to arbitrary server files. The referenced sink backend/apps/datasource/utils/excel.py lines 48-57 then parses the resolved file as a spreadsheet/CSV via read_import_dataframe and loads it into generated excel_* tables, converting the traversal into a read-back channel rather than a blind file read. This is classic CWE-22 (Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory); authentication is required and the assessed vector's PR:H reflects that only workspace administrators reach the endpoint through the permission middleware stack (RequestContextMiddleware / system.schemas.permission). The fixing commit replaces the naive join with os.path.realpath plus os.path.commonpath containment against the realpath of the upload base, raises HTTPException(400) when the resolved path equals the base directory or escapes it, and catches ValueError for cases such as embedded null bytes, returning the new i18n_ds_invalid_file_path message. The commit also adds an offline HTTP regression suite (test_datasource_import_path_traversal.py) covering absolute paths and a sibling directory whose name shares the upload directory prefix.

DescriptionCVE.org
SQLBot through 1.10.3 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the importToDb endpoint that allows authenticated workspace administrators to read files via an unsanitized filePath parameter. Attackers can supply absolute paths or ../ sequences to import CSV or spreadsheet files, including other workspaces' uploads and server files, into queryable excel_* tables.
