| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the Rapyd Admin login interface is network-reachable and that the instance was initialized with the standard setup installer (rpd:make:setup / rpd:make), which seeds the admin@laravel account with the static password 'admin'. In affected versions (9.0.0 up to the fix) this account is silently re-created on every rpd:make run, so even an operator who changed or removed the password can have the default restored without notice - this is the key factor that makes the condition near-universal for seeded installs rather than a rare edge case. Exploitation is LIMITED only where the admin@laravel account was deleted or its password changed AND rpd:make has not been re-run since, or where the login endpoint is not exposed to the attacker's network. No user interaction, no prior authentication, and no non-default feature toggle is needed - the vulnerable seeding is the default installer behavior. |
| Impact | This is a genuine high-priority issue, not a CVSS-inflated paper risk. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H, 9.3) is fully consistent with the root cause: a hard-coded, publicly documented credential pair (admin@laravel / admin, CWE-798) that grants global super-admin, bypassing per-record authorization and tenant scoping. The attack vector, low complexity, and no-privilege/no-interaction metrics all align with the description - there is no conflict between the vector and the narrative. No EPSS score was provided, so statistical exploitation likelihood cannot be quantified. The CVE is NOT in CISA KEV and no formal POC artifact is flagged, so per strict signal rules this is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis'; however, the exploit is trivial by nature because the credentials themselves are disclosed verbatim in the vendor advisory and CHANGELOG, meaning weaponization requires zero development effort. The dominant mitigating factor is real-world prevalence: Rapyd Admin is a niche open-source Laravel admin package, so widespread opportunistic scanning is less likely than targeted exploitation of known deployments. Net assessment: critical technical impact and trivial exploitability, bounded mainly by limited deployment footprint and whether instances are network-reachable. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker discovers a network-reachable Rapyd Admin (zofe/rapyd-admin) instance running a version between 9.0.0 and the fixed release and submits the published default credentials admin@laravel / admin to the login form, instantly obtaining global super-admin that bypasses tenant isolation and per-record authorization. No exploit tooling is required since the credentials are published in the vendor advisory and CHANGELOG. Because the account is silently re-seeded on every rpd:make run, even operators who previously changed or deleted the password may have had it reverted to the default. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 12, 2026
Unauthenticated remote attackers can seize global super-admin control of Rapyd Admin installations running versions 9.0.0 through 9.19.x, because the framework's setup installer seeds a hard-coded administrator account (admin@laravel, password 'admin') that grants the highest privilege level in the application. The account is silently re-created on every execution of the rpd:make artisan command, so an operator who previously changed the password or removed the account can have the known credential restored without warning, and a successful login bypasses per-record authorization checks and multi-tenant scoping entirely. VulnCheck disclosed the issue with full source references, no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, and no evidence of confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) is present; the vendor shipped the fix in v9.20.0, which creates the first admin once with a random password and never re-seeds it.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to Rapyd Admin v9.20.0 or later (https://github.com/zofe/rapyd-admin/releases/tag/v9.20.0), which contains commit acd6ee85f9e5ccec67199673b039c605d161406a and changes the installer so the initial super admin is created once with a random 16-character password printed only to the console, is never created when APP_ENV=production, and is never re-seeded by rpd:make (which thereafter refreshes only roles and permissions). Vendor-released patch: v9.20.0. After upgrading, immediately delete the admin@laravel account or rotate its password, and audit users and roles for any unexpected super-admin or owner assignments, since anyone may have logged in while the default credential was live; set rapyd.auth.seed_admin=false (and optionally rapyd.auth.admin_email) so the seeder cannot reintroduce an account, and use RAPYD_ADMIN_PASSWORD only in non-production bootstrap environments. As a compensating control where the upgrade cannot be applied at once, delete the admin@laravel account and change its password, then take the application out of the rpd:make/installer workflow until patched - but note this is fragile, because re-running the installer or deployment pipelines that execute it will silently restore the credential, and the fix version must still be applied. Additionally restrict the admin login endpoint to trusted management networks or a VPN/reverse-proxy allow-list, and watch authentication logs for logins as admin@laravel from unexpected source addresses; blocking the endpoint outright breaks legitimate administrative access, so scope it rather than disable it. Technical ContextAI · show details
Rapyd Admin is a Laravel-based admin-panel/crud scaffolding package (zofe/rapyd-admin) distributed as Composer source that generates an application skeleton via the rpd:make:setup and rpd:make artisan commands. The defect is CWE-798 (Use of Hard-coded Credentials): the class app/Modules/Auth/Database/Seeders/AuthSeeder.php (vulnerable lines 29-34 in v9.19.0) created a user model via User::factory()->create(['email' => 'admin@laravel', 'password' => Hash::make('admin')]) and then called assignRole('admin'), placing the account in the super-admin role set defined under rapyd.auth.super_admin_roles. Because the seeder was invoked from the installer as well as from the routine rpd:make workflow, the credential was not a one-time bootstrap artifact but a persistent, idempotent backdoor: re-running the command re-materialised the account and its role assignment even after remediation by the operator. Authentication is handled by Laravel Fortify with Livewire-rendered admin components, so a single credential submission to the standard login endpoint yields an authenticated session with global scope; the super-admin role sits above the application's per-record authorization and company/tenant scoping logic, meaning the attacker is not limited to a single tenant's data. The upstream fix commit acd6ee85f9e5ccec67199673b039c605d161406a rewrites seedAdminUser() to skip seeding entirely in the production environment or when rapyd.auth.seed_admin is false, to return early if the configured email already exists, and to generate Str::password(16, symbols: false) unless the RAPYD_ADMIN_PASSWORD environment variable is supplied; the password is printed to the console once instead of being written into code. The same v9.19.0/v9.20.0 changelog bundles unrelated corrections (broken access control in UsersModalEditEmbed and UsersEdit role assignment, plus stored XSS in x-rpd::select-list and x-rpd::rich-text), but the AuthSeeder hard-coded-credential change is the element mapped to this CVE.

Lifecycle Timeline
2DescriptionCVE.org
Rapyd Admin from 9.0.0 before 9.20.0 contains a hard-coded credentials vulnerability that allows remote unauthenticated attackers to gain super-admin access through an AuthSeeder-created admin@laravel account with password admin. The account is seeded by the setup installer and silently re-created on every rpd:make run, letting attackers log in as a global super admin bypassing per-record authorization and tenant scoping.
Executive ViewAI
Rapyd Admin installations running versions 9.0.0 through 9.19.x can be taken over completely through a hard-coded super-administrator account (admin@laravel / 'admin') that the framework's setup installer seeds and silently restores every time the rpd:make command executes. A successful login at that privilege level bypasses per-record authorization and multi-tenant scoping, meaning every tenant's data and administrative functions on the affected instance are exposed to whoever reaches the login page. Although no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis and there is no confirmed actively exploited (CISA KEV) status, the trivial nature of the credentials means any organization running an affected version should treat this as a high-priority remediation affecting all hosted customers.
Apply vendor patch. Until v9.20.0 is deployed, restrict admin interface exposure to trusted networks/VPN, disable or rename the seeded admin@laravel account and block re-creation via rpd:make, rotate all administrative credentials, and enforce MFA with logging and alerting on authentication and privilege-change events.
