| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires a vLLM deployment prior to 0.30.0 that serves a video-capable multimodal model and honors request-level media_io_kwargs, with the attacker selecting the GLMGA video backend and supplying large fps and max_frames values (the pre-patch code defaulted max_frames to 640 with no hard class ceiling and applied target.fps directly). A tiny valid video file is sufficient to trigger the oversized frame-index allocation. Limiting factors: only instances configured to accept video/multimodal input through the GLMGA backend are affected; deployments not exposing video inference, or already on 0.30.0 (which clamps target_fps to _MAX_FPS=30, caps max_frames at _MAX_FRAMES=640, and bounds extract_t by total_frames_num), are not exploitable. The CVSS vector reports PR:N, so no authentication is required, making any network-reachable vulnerable endpoint exposed. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity, resource-exhaustion denial-of-service issue (CWE-400) with a CVSS of 5.3 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L). The vector is self-consistent with the description: a network-reachable caller sets the request-level media_io_kwargs field to select the GLMGA video backend and supplies oversized fps/max_frames values, with no privileges or user interaction required. Impact is availability-only and rated Low (A:L), because the GLMGA backend builds an attacker-sized pre-decode frame-index list that disproportionately consumes CPU and memory in the shared media-loading executor - degrading or starving the shared serving process rather than fully crashing a host or exposing data. No EPSS score was provided in the input, the issue is not listed in CISA KEV, and no public proof-of-concept is referenced (only the fix commit, PR, release, and GHSA advisory), so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and no evidence of active exploitation. No SSVC decision data was supplied. The signals are therefore consistent rather than conflicting: a genuine but bounded availability risk that is realistic to trigger (low complexity, unauthenticated) but limited to deployments actually serving video multimodal input through the GLMGA backend. Treat as a patch-soon hardening fix rather than an emergency; prioritize higher if the affected vLLM endpoint is internet-exposed and accepts multimodal requests. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker with network access to a vulnerable vLLM endpoint serving a video-capable multimodal model submits a compact inference request containing a tiny valid video plus media_io_kwargs selecting the GLMGA backend with extreme fps and max_frames values. GLMGA constructs and deduplicates a huge pre-decode frame-index list, causing a small request to consume disproportionate CPU and memory in the shared media-loading executor and degrading service for all co-located requests. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis, but the fix commit and regression tests demonstrate the exact triggering parameters. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 05, 2026
Denial of service in vLLM versions prior to 0.30.0 lets unauthenticated remote callers exhaust shared media-loading CPU and memory. A caller can set the request-level media_io_kwargs field to select the GLMGA video backend and pass oversized fps and max_frames values, causing GLMGA to build and deduplicate an attacker-sized pre-decode frame-index list from a tiny, valid video file. The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L) confirms no authentication is required and impact is limited to availability, yielding a moderate 5.3 score; no public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis and the issue is not in CISA KEV. The flaw is fixed in vLLM 0.30.0.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: vLLM 0.30.0. Upgrade any video-capable vLLM deployment to 0.30.0 or later, which enforces _MAX_FPS=30 and _MAX_FRAMES=640 clamps and bounds frame extraction by total_frames_num; the fix is tracked in commit 8b6de0eb9a09ef53f20cf06bd4d17ee264b9c2a7 and PR https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/pull/54935, with details in the vendor advisory https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/security/advisories/GHSA-58v5-2m8f-94pr and release notes at https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/releases/tag/v0.30.0. Where an immediate upgrade is not possible, as compensating controls, do not allow clients to supply request-level media_io_kwargs (strip or ignore the field so GLMGA fps/max_frames cannot be caller-controlled), or restrict which video backends are selectable - trade-off: this may break legitimate custom sampling use cases that rely on per-request overrides. If video inference is not required, disable the video/multimodal input path entirely, which is the lowest-risk option but removes that functionality. Optionally block network access to video-capable inference endpoints from untrusted clients or place them behind authentication, which is not a fix but reduces the exposed attack surface; note that this contradicts the PR:N vector only in environments where the endpoint is deliberately closed off and does not address the resource-consumption defect itself.

vLLM is a high-throughput inference and serving engine for large language models, and its multimodal pipeline loads and samples video frames for video-capable models through pluggable backends. CVE-2026-105760 is a CWE-400 uncontrolled resource consumption issue in the GLMGA video backend's frame-index sampling path. Request-level media_io_kwargs allow callers to influence backend selection and sampling parameters; before the fix, GLMGAVideoBackend.compute_frames_index_to_sample applied target.fps directly and defaulted max_frames to 640 with no hard class ceiling, and only bounded extract_t by max_frames (not by the source's total frame count). As a result, a compact request declaring very large fps and max_frames values forced the backend to allocate and deduplicate a frame-index list sized to those attacker-chosen values rather than the actual video's frame count, converting a tiny valid video into disproportionate work inside the shared media-loading executor. The upstream fix introduces class-level ceilings (_MAX_FRAMES=640, _MAX_FPS=30), clamps target_fps with min(target.fps, cls._MAX_FPS), clamps max_frames with min(kwargs.get('max_frames', cls._MAX_FRAMES), cls._MAX_FRAMES), and adds total_frames_num to the extract_t bound (min(extract_t, max_frames, total_frames_num)), so intermediate allocations cannot exceed the real frame count. Regression tests in tests/multimodal/test_video.py verify extreme values are bounded by total_frames and that class caps override request-provided fps and max_frames.

DescriptionCVE.org
vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models. Prior to 0.30.0, a caller can use the request-level media_io_kwargs field to select the GLMGA video backend and supply large values for the fps and max_frames options without a strict work ceiling. GLMGA constructs and deduplicates an attacker-sized pre-decode frame-index list, allowing a compact request and tiny valid video to consume disproportionate CPU time and memory in the shared media-loading executor. This issue is fixed in version 0.30.0.
