| Exploitation Conditions | Requires (1) a victim who is an authenticated LaraDashboard user possessing email-template permissions, (2) that victim to open an attacker-supplied link to the EmailTemplateController builder or builderEdit endpoint carrying a crafted redirect_url parameter, and (3) the victim to trigger a template save, at which point the unvalidated redirect_url (pre-1.4.8, used raw without the SafeRedirectValidator introduced in the patch) sends the browser to the attacker destination. Limiting factors: exploitation needs passive user interaction (UI:P) and a privileged authenticated victim, so it cannot be driven against anonymous visitors or default unauthenticated surfaces; impact is confined to redirection enabling phishing rather than direct compromise of the application. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity (CVSS 4.0 base 5.3) open redirect (CWE-601) whose real-world risk is modest and bounded. The provided CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N) indicates network reach and no attacker privileges, but mandatory passive user interaction (UI:P) and the fact that the vulnerable builder/builderEdit endpoints live in the authenticated backend mean the VICTIM must already be a logged-in user holding email-template permissions - a meaningful constraint on scale. No EPSS score, KEV listing, POC, or SSVC decision data was provided in the input, so there is no signal of automated or active exploitation; exploitation status is therefore 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' The impact is limited to phishing/credential-harvesting enablement (low confidentiality/integrity, no availability), not direct code execution or data theft. Net: a legitimate issue to patch during routine maintenance, not an emergency - the high-sounding 'remote unauthenticated' framing is tempered because it requires tricking an authenticated privileged user into clicking a crafted link and saving a template. Note: PR:N describes the ATTACKER (who needs no account to craft the link); the authenticated-victim requirement is expressed through UI:P and the backend endpoint, not through PR. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker crafts a link to the EmailTemplateController builder/builderEdit endpoint with a malicious redirect_url parameter pointing to an attacker-controlled site, then delivers it (e.g., via email) to a LaraDashboard user who holds email-template permissions. When that logged-in user opens the builder and saves the template, the application redirects their browser to the attacker's phishing page, which can impersonate the dashboard login to harvest credentials. No public exploit code was identified in the provided data, though the vendor advisory and patch diff make the mechanism clear. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 04, 2026
Open redirect in LaraDashboard before 1.4.8 allows remote attackers to steer an authenticated user who holds email-template permissions to an attacker-controlled phishing site after that user saves an email template. The flaw lives in the EmailTemplateController builder and builderEdit endpoints, which accepted a redirect_url query parameter and used it verbatim as the post-save navigation target, with the same raw value also flowing into the React LaraBuilder front end via the mount element's data-redirect-url attribute. Exploitation requires passive user interaction (UI:P); the attacker needs no authentication of their own against the endpoint (PR:N), but the victim must be a logged-in user with email-template rights who opens a crafted builder link and then triggers a save. No public exploit code and no confirmed active exploitation were identified at time of analysis, and the impact is bounded to redirection-based phishing rather than direct compromise of the application, consistent with a medium-severity (CVSS 4.0 base 5.3; assessed CVSS 3.1 AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N) rating.
RemediationAI
Upgrade LaraDashboard to version 1.4.8 or later - the vendor has released a patch that adds app/Support/Security/SafeRedirectValidator.php and applies it to the redirect_url parameter in EmailTemplateController::builder() and ::builderEdit(), together with a matching client-side isSafeRedirectUrl() check in resources/js/lara-builder/utils/safeRedirect.js, LaraBuilder.jsx and entry.jsx. The fix is tracked in pull request https://github.com/laradashboard/laradashboard/pull/341 and commit c08da68236267afc0c0073598f66fadbc1b53b66, with the release at https://github.com/laradashboard/laradashboard/releases/tag/v1.4.8 and full details in https://github.com/laradashboard/laradashboard/security/advisories/GHSA-j2vp-w788-8fcf. If upgrading immediately is not possible, treat any link to the EmailTemplateController builder or builderEdit endpoints as untrusted and train users with email-template permissions not to follow externally supplied builder URLs; additionally, restrict email-template edit permissions to the smallest possible set of trusted administrators, since the redirect only fires for a victim who holds those rights and completes a save - this shrinks the attack surface but does not eliminate the flaw for the remaining privileged users. Note that simply stripping or blocking the redirect_url query parameter at a reverse proxy or WAF will neutralize the open redirect but will also break the intended extensibility behaviour that third-party modules rely on for returning users to their originating screen after a template save, so such a rule should be scoped and monitored rather than applied blindly.

Technical ContextAI · show details
LaraDashboard is a Laravel/PHP-based administration dashboard whose email-template editing is handled by app/Http/Controllers/Backend/EmailTemplateController.php; the builder() and builderEdit() actions read a redirect_url query parameter that the code comments explicitly describe as an extensibility hook any module could use to return the user somewhere after saving a template (see the pre-patch lines 142 and 159 referenced at tag v1.4.2). That value was passed unmodified into the view and then consumed by the React front end in resources/js/lara-builder/core/LaraBuilder.jsx (around line 762) and entry.jsx, which read mountElement.dataset.redirectUrl and performed window-level navigation on a successful save result. The root cause is CWE-601 (URL Redirection to Untrusted Site / Open Redirect): a user-controllable parameter is treated as a trusted navigation target without any allow-list, origin check, or scheme check. The upstream fix (PR #341, commit c08da68236267afc0c0073598f66fadbc1b53b66) introduces app/Support/Security/SafeRedirectValidator.php, which trims the value, rejects control characters (\x00-\x1F\x7F), permits only relative paths that begin with a single slash (rejecting protocol-relative '//'), and otherwise requires a syntactically valid http/https URL whose host equals the host parsed from config('app.url'), additionally forcing https when the application environment is production. A mirrored client-side guard, resources/js/lara-builder/utils/safeRedirect.js exposing isSafeRedirectUrl(), is applied both when reading the mount element's redirect URL and before honoring a redirect returned by the save handler in LaraBuilder.jsx, giving defence in depth on both the server and browser sides.

DescriptionCVE.org
LaraDashboard before 1.4.8 contains an open redirect vulnerability that allows remote attackers to redirect users by supplying an unvalidated redirect_url parameter to EmailTemplateController builder and builderEdit. Attackers can send crafted builder links to logged-in users with email template permissions so saving a template navigates them to attacker-controlled phishing sites.
