Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway before version 9.5.0 is vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). A server-side request forgery (SSRF) weakness in Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to induce the gateway to issue crafted requests to internal or otherwise unintended network destinations. The requests are triggered while the gateway retrieves an issuer certificate in an inbound message. Depending on the services reachable from the gateway, this could disclose sensitive internal information or disrupt gateway operation.
AnalysisAI
Server-side request forgery in Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway (all versions before 9.5.0) lets a remote, unauthenticated attacker who can deliver an inbound message cause the gateway to issue crafted HTTP requests to internal or otherwise unintended network destinations, with the trigger occurring during the gateway's issuer-certificate retrieval step. With CVSS 3.1 base score 9.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H), a successful attack can disclose sensitive internal information reachable from the gateway's network position and/or disrupt gateway operation, but the practical impact is bounded by which internal services and metadata endpoints the gateway can reach and by whether any response data is reflected back to the attacker rather than being blind. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | No authentication or user interaction required (PR:N/UI:N): a remote attacker only needs to deliver an inbound message to the Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine priority within its deployment niche. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | The primary fix is to upgrade Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway to version 9.5.0 or later, which is the vendor-released patched version; confirm the new build after upgrading and refer to the Kiteworks advisory at https://github.com/kiteworks/security-advisories/security/advisories/GHSA-jxv9-v53f-c79m for product-specific instructions. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
