DescriptionNVD

The PROFINET (PNIO) stack, when integrated with the Interniche IP stack, improperly handles internal resources for TCP segments where the minimum TCP-Header length is less than defined.

This could allow an attacker to create a denial of service condition for TCP services on affected devices by sending specially crafted TCP segments.

AnalysisAI

The PROFINET (PNIO) stack, when integrated with the Interniche IP stack, improperly handles internal resources for TCP segments where the minimum TCP-Header length is less than defined. Rated high severity (CVSS 7.5), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, no authentication required, low attack complexity. No vendor patch available.

Technical ContextAI

This vulnerability is classified as Uncontrolled Resource Consumption (CWE-400), which allows attackers to cause denial of service by exhausting system resources. Affected products include: Siemens Simatic Cfu Diq Firmware, Siemens Simatic Cfu Pa Firmware, Siemens Simatic S7-300 Cpu Firmware, Siemens Simatic S7-400H V6 Firmware, Siemens Simatic S7-400 Pn\/Dp V7 Firmware.

RemediationAI

No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Implement rate limiting, set resource quotas, validate input sizes, use timeouts.
