DescriptionNVD
An integer overflow exists in pywin32 prior to version b301 when adding an access control entry (ACE) to an access control list (ACL) that would cause the size to be greater than 65535 bytes. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could crash the vulnerable process.
AnalysisAI
An integer overflow exists in pywin32 prior to version b301 when adding an access control entry (ACE) to an access control list (ACL) that would cause the size to be greater than 65535 bytes. Rated medium severity (CVSS 6.5), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, low attack complexity.
Technical ContextAI
This vulnerability is classified as Integer Overflow (CWE-190), which allows attackers to cause unexpected behavior through arithmetic overflow. An integer overflow exists in pywin32 prior to version b301 when adding an access control entry (ACE) to an access control list (ACL) that would cause the size to be greater than 65535 bytes. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could crash the vulnerable process. Affected products include: Mhammond Pywin32.
RemediationAI
A vendor patch is available. Apply the latest security update as soon as possible. Validate arithmetic operations, use safe integer libraries, check bounds before allocation.
