MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Defense Evasion, Initial Access The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Two concrete conditions must both hold: (1) the plugin option use_id_token_parser_v2 must be enabled, as this is the only configuration that routes token processing through Id_Token_Service_Deprecated::process_openidconnect_token() containing the broken nonce check; and (2) the attacker must already possess a previously-issued, valid OIDC id_token for the target WordPress account (the flaw enables replay of such a token, not forgery of a new one). Limiting factors for defenders: use_id_token_parser_v2 is a non-default routing option, no WordPress authentication is required (PR:N), no user interaction is needed (UI:N), and the attack is network-reachable but constrained by the need to first acquire a legitimate id_token - which is why CVSS rates attack complexity as High. |
| Impact | This is a serious-impact but precondition-gated authentication bypass (CWE-287) rather than a mass-exploitable flaw. The provided CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, base 8.1) is internally consistent with the description: PR:N reflects that the attacker needs no prior WordPress account, while AC:H correctly captures the two real prerequisites - the attacker must first obtain a previously-issued valid id_token for the target account, and the site must be running the non-default use_id_token_parser_v2 option that routes tokens through the broken deprecated parser. No EPSS score, SSVC decision, KEV listing, or public POC was supplied in the input, so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and no evidence of active exploitation. Weighing these signals together: technical impact is total (admin takeover / full site compromise), but automatability is low because successful exploitation depends on stealing or replaying a valid OIDC id_token and on a specific opt-in configuration - this is closer to a targeted bypass than an opportunistic internet-wide mass-exploitation candidate. Treat as high priority for sites confirmed to run WPO365 Login with use_id_token_parser_v2 enabled, and lower priority elsewhere. No conflicting signals were found between the CVSS vector and the description; both agree on remote, unauthenticated, config-dependent access. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who has captured or otherwise obtained a valid, previously-issued OIDC id_token for a target account (e.g. an administrator) replays that token to the plugin's OIDC callback on a site where use_id_token_parser_v2 is enabled. Because the deprecated parser validates the 64-char hex nonce with the wrong WordPress core function (wp_verify_nonce), the nonce check silently fails without stopping authentication, and the attacker is logged in as that user. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis, though the vulnerable code paths are directly linked in the Wordfence/wordpress.org trac references. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 10, 2026
Replaying a previously-issued OIDC id_token allows unauthenticated attackers to bypass authentication in WPO365 Login (≤44.1) and take over any WordPress account, including administrators. The flaw is gated by the non-default use_id_token_parser_v2 option and requires a valid id_token for the target account. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to WPO365 Login version 45.0 or later, which fixes the nonce validation flaw (see changeset at https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3727410/wpo365-login). If immediate patching is not possible, disable the 'use_id_token_parser_v2' option; however, this may revert to legacy token parsing and could impact functionality. Ensure OIDC id_tokens are short-lived and implement token revocation where possible. Monitor authentication logs for anomalous OIDC logins. Technical ContextAI · show details
The WPO365 Login plugin for WordPress implements OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication against Microsoft identity platform. The vulnerability resides in the deprecated token processing path (Id_Token_Service_Deprecated::process_openidconnect_token()) which is used when the non-default 'use_id_token_parser_v2' option is enabled. This code attempts to validate a nonce using WordPress's wp_verify_nonce() function, but the nonce is generated by Nonce_Service::create_nonce() as a 64-character hex string, which wp_verify_nonce() cannot verify (it expects a nonce created by wp_create_nonce()). The verification silently fails without terminating execution, so the authentication flow proceeds to authenticate_oidc_user() with the attacker-supplied id_token. This is a CWE-287: Improper Authentication flaw.

DescriptionCVE.org
The WPO365 | SEAMLESS WORDPRESS + MICROSOFT INTEGRATION (WPO365 | LOGIN) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authentication Bypass via OIDC Nonce Replay in all versions up to, and including, 44.1 This is due to Id_Token_Service_Deprecated::process_openidconnect_token() using the incompatible WordPress core wp_verify_nonce() function to validate a nonce produced by Nonce_Service::create_nonce() - a 64-character hex value that wp_verify_nonce() can never successfully verify - causing the nonce check to silently fail without terminating authentication, so execution continues into authenticate_oidc_user() with the attacker-supplied id_token. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers who have obtained a previously-issued, valid id_token for a target account to replay that token and authenticate as any WordPress user, including administrators, resulting in full site takeover. This vulnerability is only exploitable when the use_id_token_parser_v2 plugin option is enabled, as this is the configuration that routes token processing through the deprecated parser containing the broken nonce check.
Executive ViewAI
WPO365 Login versions 44.1 and earlier are affected by a high-severity authentication bypass that could enable attackers to take over any WordPress account, including administrator accounts, resulting in full site compromise and potential data theft. The vulnerability is only exploitable when the non-default use_id_token_parser_v2 setting is enabled and requires a valid id_token for the target account; no public exploit identified at time of analysis. Organizations using this plugin should urgently assess their exposure and apply available mitigations while awaiting a vendor patch.
Disable the non-default use_id_token_parser_v2 option; if not possible, deactivate the plugin. Enforce MFA, monitor authentication logs, and restrict network access to the login endpoint.
