Sylius versions before 1.12.25, 1.13.17, 1.14.20, 2.1.16, and 2.2.9 fail to include firewall identification in JWT tokens issued by separate Admin and Shop API endpoints. Attackers can register a shop customer account using an administrator's email address and obtain a token that the Admin API resolves to that administrator, granting full administrative access.

AnalysisAI
JWT audience confusion in Sylius (before 1.12.25, 1.13.17, 1.14.20, 2.1.16, and 2.2.9) allows a self-registered shop customer to escalate to full administrator access. Because tokens issued by the Shop API omit any firewall/audience identifier, an attacker who registers a shop account using an existing administrator's email address receives a token that the Admin API resolves to that administrator, granting complete administrative control (CVSS 3.1 8.7, PR:L, C/I/A:H). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires that the Sylius application expose both the Shop API and Admin API JWT firewalls (default configuration) and that self-service shop-customer registration be available. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine high-priority privilege-escalation flaw, not an inflated CVSS score. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to a patched release: 1.12.25, 1.13.17, 1.14.20, 2.1.16, or 2.2.9 (the tag v2.2.9 is published at https://github.com/Sylius/Sylius/releases/tag/v2.2.9, and the fix landed via PR #19213 and commit cdfb672a4d174eb2c73159b25cf5b5f44088f45c). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory every Sylius deployment, confirm whether both Shop and Admin JWT firewalls and self-service shop registration are enabled, and where possible immediately disable public registration or restrict the Admin API to trusted networks; additionally, rotate JWT signing keys/passphrases and force re-authentication of all administrator accounts, and review recent registrations for accounts created with existing administrator email addresses. …
