Attacker must already have write access to the opt-in persistence store, so PR:H and AC:H; arbitrary class instantiation yields limited (Low) C/I/A impact absent a confirmed RCE gadget chain.

3DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw has been found in langchain4j up to 1.5.3-beta10/1.11.10-beta18/1.18.1-beta27. This vulnerability affects the function AgenticScopeSerializer.fromJson of the file AgenticScopeJsonSerializationIT.java of the component LangChain4j-agentic. This manipulation causes deserialization. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The attack's complexity is rated as high. It is stated that the exploitability is difficult. The exploit has been published and may be used. Upgrading to version 1.5.3-beta11, 1.11.10-beta19 and 1.18.1-beta28 is able to resolve this issue. Upgrading the affected component is advised. The project maintainer kindly explains: "The issue was reported to us privately on 23 July 2026 and fixed in releases published on 29 July 2026. It is tracked as GHSA-gmwr-7wmf-mrjm. Exploitation requires an application to have enabled AgenticScope persistence, which is opt-in, and an attacker who can already write to that store. All maintained release lines have been patched."
AnalysisAI
Deserialization of untrusted data in the LangChain4j-agentic module's AgenticScopeSerializer.fromJson path allows an attacker who can already write to an AgenticScope persistence store to trigger arbitrary class instantiation through Jackson's insecure default typing. Affected versions are the 1.5.3, 1.11.10 and 1.18.1 beta lines up to and including 1.5.3-beta10, 1.11.10-beta18 and 1.18.1-beta27, with fixes released in 1.5.3-beta11, 1.11.10-beta19 and 1.18.1-beta28 under advisory GHSA-gmwr-7wmf-mrjm. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires BOTH of the following, per the maintainer: (1) the application must have explicitly enabled AgenticScope persistence, which is opt-in and OFF by default; and (2) the attacker must already possess write access to the persistence store used by that feature. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuinely low-priority issue despite the CWE-502 (deserialization) classification that superficially reads as dangerous. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to langchain4j 1.18.1-beta28 (or the corresponding 1.18.1 release), 1.11.10-beta19, or 1.5.3-beta11 depending on your maintenance line; the fix is documented in GHSA-gmwr-7wmf-mrjm at https://github.com/langchain4j/langchain4j/security/advisories/GHSA-gmwr-7wmf-mrjm and the release tag https://github.com/langchain4j/langchain4j/releases/tag/1.18.1. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
