Warpgate is an open source SSH, HTTPS and MySQL bastion host for Linux. Prior to 0.25.5, the /@warpgate/api/sso/providers/:name/start endpoint stores an attacker-controlled next parameter that the POST /@warpgate/api/sso/return handler inserts without HTML escaping into the response generated by warpgate-protocol-http/src/api/sso_provider_list.rs. A victim who follows a crafted link and completes SSO can cause markup and JavaScript to execute in the authenticated Warpgate origin, allowing access to session data and actions through user APIs, and through administrator APIs only when the victim is an administrator. The GET /@warpgate/api/sso/return path also uses the same unvalidated value as a redirect destination, enabling an open redirect. This issue is fixed in version 0.25.5.
AnalysisAI
Stored cross-site scripting and open redirect in Warpgate's SSO endpoints (versions prior to 0.25.5) allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to inject markup and JavaScript into the authenticated Warpgate origin. The attacker stores an arbitrary 'next' parameter via /@warpgate/api/sso/providers/:name/start, which the return handler later reflects without HTML escaping; the victim must follow the crafted link and complete an SSO login before the payload executes. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires the SSO login feature to be configured/enabled on the Warpgate HTTP interface, since the flaw lives in the /@warpgate/api/sso/providers/:name/start and /@warpgate/api/sso/return handlers. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The vendor rates this 9.3 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:N) - network vector, no attacker privileges, but crucially UI:R because the victim must both follow a crafted link and complete an SSO login before the stored payload fires in their authenticated Warpgate origin. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: Warpgate 0.25.5 (https://github.com/warp-tech/warpgate/releases/tag/v0.25.5), which follows upstream fix commit eab0548f018d95b5f96f8e913527000e05ed93a2 and is documented in advisory GHSA-3c3w-75j2-7h74. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Warpgate deployments and confirm whether any run versions prior to 0.25.5; if SSO is not business-critical, temporarily disable SSO providers or restrict access to /@warpgate/api/sso/* at the reverse proxy/WAF, and alert Warpgate administrators to avoid untrusted SSO login links. …
