Stored XSS whose script escapes the renderer sandbox to child_process (S:C, C/I/A:H); UI:R because a victim must view the title or import the notebook, and PR:N via the crafted-notebook path.

DescriptionCVE.org

SiYuan before 3.8.4 renders document titles as HTML in the backlink dock tree without escaping markup characters. Attackers can set malicious titles through the rename API or crafted notebooks to execute scripts in the Electron renderer with access to child_process for command execution.

AnalysisAI

Cross-site scripting in the SiYuan desktop note-taking app before 3.8.4 allows an attacker who can dictate a document title - either by calling the rename API or by delivering a crafted notebook the victim opens - to inject markup that is rendered as HTML in the backlink dock tree and executed inside the Electron renderer. Because the default desktop build exposes Node's child_process to the renderer, successful script execution escalates from XSS to arbitrary command execution on the victim's machine; the CVSS 4.0 vector rates this 8.6 (PR:N, UI:A), and the independent assessment concurs that this is a genuinely high-priority issue rather than an inflated score. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires the victim to render an attacker-controlled document title in the backlink dock tree of the SiYuan desktop (Electron) app running a version before 3.8.4. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuinely high-priority issue, not an inflated CVSS. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to SiYuan 3.8.4 or later; the vendor-released patch is commit 6f093ebe50afc503e2a8b056164293054f8509e7, which escapes document names by default in the backlink dock tree and only renders raw HTML when a producer explicitly sets nameIsHTML. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, identify all SiYuan desktop installations across the organization and confirm version status; immediately upgrade any system running versions before 3.8.4 to the vendor-released patch version 3.8.4. …
