Attacker must hold Pipeline-configure rights (PR:L) and set up a symlink escape (AC:H); impact is limited file read (C:L) and file deletion (I:L) with no availability effect.

5DescriptionCVE.org
Jenkins Pipeline: Groovy Libraries Plugin 805.va_fc79344957d and earlier does not restrict the library path provided to the library Pipeline step to a relative path inside the SCM checkout, and follows symbolic links to locations outside of the SCM checkout when retrieving the library, resulting in a path traversal vulnerability, allowing attackers able to configure Pipelines to read files in a resources directory and to delete files in a test directory on the Jenkins controller file system.
AnalysisAI
Path traversal in the Jenkins Pipeline: Groovy Libraries Plugin (805.va_fc79344957d and earlier) lets an authenticated user who can configure Pipelines point the library step at a path outside the SCM checkout and follow symbolic links, giving read access to files in a resources directory and the ability to delete files in a test directory on the Jenkins controller file system. Exploitation requires the Pipeline-configuration privilege, a symlink placed inside the checkout, and successful traversal during library retrieval, which is reflected in the high attack complexity of the assessed CVSS:3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N, base score 4.2). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires an authenticated attacker holding permission to configure Jenkins Pipelines (PR:L) on a Jenkins controller running Pipeline: Groovy Libraries Plugin 805.va_fc79344957d or earlier. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a low-to-moderate priority, low-real-risk issue despite being a network-vector CWE-22. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade the Jenkins Pipeline: Groovy Libraries Plugin beyond 805.va_fc79344957d using the fixed release identified in the vendor advisory at https://www.jenkins.io/security/advisory/2026-09-16/#SECURITY-3796; note that no exact fixed version number is provided in the available input data, so the advisory itself must be consulted to confirm the patched release before upgrading. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
