The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up.

Exploitation Conditions

Requires that the target site runs the Eventin plugin (before 4.1.24) with paid ticketing/checkout enabled, since the abuse targets the guest-checkout order flow. No authentication, user interaction, or non-default configuration is otherwise needed: the attacker acts as an ordinary anonymous buyer and reuses the order-scoped checkout token the plugin itself issues during guest checkout. The practical limiters are that exploitation only yields free tickets on that attacker's own order (integrity/fraud impact only - no data disclosure, no site takeover, no denial of service) and that the site must actually sell paid tickets for the flaw to have monetary value.

Impact

This is a genuine but moderate-severity business-logic flaw, best characterized as a real fraud/revenue-loss issue rather than a system-compromise one. The vendor CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N = 5.3) is internally consistent with the description: the exploit is network-reachable, low-complexity, requires no authentication (the attacker simply reuses the guest-checkout token they legitimately receive) and no user interaction, and the only impact is a Low integrity effect (an order record is altered to swap a paid ticket for a free one). There is NO confidentiality or availability impact, which correctly caps the score in the medium range despite the unauthenticated/no-interaction profile. EPSS is low at 0.18% (8th percentile) and there is NO CISA KEV listing, indicating no evidence of widespread or automated exploitation - expected, since this is a targeted, per-order fraud technique rather than a mass-exploitable memory-corruption or takeover bug. A public WPScan exploit reference DOES exist, so exploitation is straightforward for anyone motivated to defraud a specific Eventin-powered store; however, POC availability is a distinct signal from active exploitation and should not be conflated. SSVC framing: exploitation is proof-of-concept, the technique is arguably automatable against a known target, but technical impact is partial (integrity-only). Net: prioritize patching for sites that actually sell tickets through Eventin (direct monetary loss), but this is not an emergency system-compromise vulnerability.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker begins a normal guest checkout for a paid event ticket, obtaining the checkout token the plugin issues. Using that same token after checkout - which the plugin fails to prevent - they modify the pending order to substitute a free ticket for the paid one, then complete the order and receive a valid ticket at no cost. A public exploit reference is available via WPScan, making the technique reproducible against any unpatched Eventin store.

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 17, 2026

Missing authorization in the Eventin WordPress plugin before 4.1.24 allows unauthenticated attackers to reuse the order-scoped token that the plugin itself issues during guest checkout to swap a paid ticket for a free one and then complete the order at no cost. The flaw is a business-logic/fraud issue rather than a site-compromise vector: it yields no data disclosure, no privilege escalation and no denial of service, and it only affects sites running Eventin with paid ticketing and guest checkout enabled, and only on the attacker's own order. Publicly available exploit code exists, and the vendor has released a fix in 4.1.24; EPSS is low (0.18%, 8th percentile), consistent with a narrowly targeted revenue-loss bug rather than a mass-exploited one.

RemediationAI

Upgrade the Eventin plugin to version 4.1.24 or later - the vendor-released fix for this issue; the advisory (https://wpscan.com/vulnerability/a4fa75f7-2b30-4659-9e25-dd3454c50ebb/) and NVD entry (https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-77702) should be consulted for the authoritative version cutoff. If the update cannot be applied immediately, the most effective compensating control is to disable guest checkout so that every ticket purchase is tied to an authenticated account with a server-side order-to-user binding the plugin cannot be tricked into reusing (trade-off: lower conversion and friction for anonymous buyers). Alternatively, temporarily disable paid ticketing or switch affected events to free registration until patched, at the cost of lost ticket revenue. As a detective measure, reconcile completed orders against payment records and audit for orders whose final ticket type is free while the original selection was paid, since the abuse is confined to the attacker's own order and leaves a clear ticket-swap trail.

Technical ContextAI · show details

Eventin is a WordPress event-management and ticketing plugin; the vulnerable component is its guest-checkout order flow. Root cause is CWE-862 (Missing Authorization): the token minted for an anonymous guest at checkout is scoped to an order, but the plugin fails to bind or restrict the post-checkout ticket-modification operation to the paid/issued state of that order. In practice the checkout token is accepted both for legitimate guest order completion and for later edits to the order's ticket selections, so an anonymous buyer can replace a paid ticket line with a free ticket and finalize the order without paying. The CVSS vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N matches this: network-reachable, low attack complexity, no authentication (PR:N), no user interaction, unchanged scope, and only partial integrity impact on the attacker's own order - no confidentiality or availability impact. The supplied CPE (cpe:2.3:a:unknown:eventin:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*) is a wildcard entry, so version scoping must come from the vendor advisory and EUVD rather than CPE matching. Tracked as ENISA EUVD-2026-80184 and reported via WPScan.

DescriptionCVE.org

The Eventin WordPress plugin before 4.1.24 does not prevent the token issued to a guest at checkout from being used to change that order's tickets afterwards, allowing unauthenticated users to replace a paid ticket with a free one and complete the order at no charge.
