1DescriptionCVE.org
ATutor is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) attack in profile picture related endpoints. Any authenticated user, including a student, can supply another user's member_id in a POST request to the profile album endpoint and permanently delete that user's profile picture, including those of instructors and administrators.
Product is no longer actively supported and the vulnerabilities have not been fixed. Only version 2.2.4 was tested and confirmed as vulnerable, other versions were not tested but might also be vulnerable.
AnalysisAI
Insecure Direct Object Reference in ATutor 2.2.4 allows any authenticated user - including students with the lowest privilege level - to permanently delete profile pictures belonging to any other user, including instructors and administrators, by supplying an arbitrary member_id in a POST request to the profile album endpoint. The product is end-of-life with no patch forthcoming, making this a permanent unresolved exposure for any remaining deployments. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid authenticated session on the target ATutor instance - any account type (student, instructor, or administrator) is sufficient, making this accessible to the broadest possible internal attacker population. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 (Medium) reflects network accessibility with low complexity (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N), low privilege requirements (PR:L), no user interaction (UI:N), and only limited vulnerable-system integrity impact (VI:L) with no confidentiality or availability impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch is available and none is expected, as ATutor is end-of-life with no active development or security support. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
