1DescriptionCVE.org
ATutor is vulnerable to Missing Authorization Check on Test and Question Import endpoints. A low-privileged authenticated user (e.g. a student) enrolled in a course can bypass authorization checks by sending requests directly to the backend import endpoints, allowing the unauthorized import of tests and questions within a course.
Product is no longer actively supported and the vulnerabilities have not been fixed. Only version 2.2.4 was tested and confirmed as vulnerable, other versions were not tested but might also be vulnerable.
AnalysisAI
ATutor 2.2.4, an end-of-life open-source e-learning platform, allows any low-privileged authenticated user enrolled in a course to bypass authorization controls on the test and question import backend endpoints, enabling unauthorized content manipulation within the course. By directly targeting import endpoints that lack proper authorization checks, a student-level account can import tests and questions they should have no permission to manage. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The attacker must be a low-privileged authenticated user (e.g., a student) who is actively enrolled in the target course on the ATutor instance. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 (Medium) accurately reflects the bounded scope of this vulnerability: the impact is limited to low integrity degradation (VI:L) with no confidentiality or availability impact (VC:N, VA:N, SC:N, SI:N, SA:N). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch has been identified at the time of analysis, and none is anticipated given ATutor's end-of-life status. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
