In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14, a user who does not hold the "admin" or "power" Splunk roles could execute attacker-chosen Structured Query Language (SQL) queries through the Data Orchestration jobs endpoint, allowing for access to substantially all data stored by Data Orchestration, including jobs owned by other users and stored connection credentials. The vulnerability is possible because Data Orchestration builds a database query from user-controlled job filter values without using parameterized queries. For more information see About configuring role-based user access (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/administer/manage-users-and-security/10.2/manage-splunk-platform-users-and-roles/about-configuring-role-based-user-access) in the Splunk documentation.
AnalysisAI
SQL injection in Splunk Enterprise's Data Orchestration jobs endpoint allows any authenticated low-privilege user - explicitly excluding the need for 'admin' or 'power' roles - to execute arbitrary SQL against the underlying Data Orchestration database, exposing all job records across all users and stored connection credentials. Affected version branches are 10.4.x below 10.4.2, 10.2.x below 10.2.6, 10.0.x below 10.0.9, and 9.4.x below 9.4.14. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Any valid Splunk user account is sufficient - the 'admin' or 'power' role is explicitly NOT required, meaning standard analyst, read-only, or developer accounts are all viable. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N accurately reflects network-accessible exploitation requiring only low-privilege Splunk authentication, with high confidentiality impact and no integrity or availability impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker with any valid low-privilege Splunk user account sends a crafted HTTP request to the Data Orchestration jobs endpoint, embedding SQL injection payloads within job filter parameters (for example, a UNION-based injection to retrieve all rows from the jobs table). The application concatenates the unsanitized input into a live SQL query, returning job records belonging to other users and stored database connection credentials. … |
| Remediation | Upgrade Splunk Enterprise to one of the patched releases confirmed by the vendor: 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, or 9.4.14 per advisory SVD-2026-0801 at https://advisory.splunk.com/advisories/SVD-2026-0801. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
