1DescriptionCVE.org
A vulnerability has been found in TRENDnet TEW-821DAP 1.11B03. This affects the function sub_42026C of the file /goform/tools_ddns of the component Firmware Update Handler. Such manipulation of the argument hostname/username/password leads to os command injection. The attack can be launched remotely. The vendor explains: "We are unable to confirm the existence of the vulnerabilities for (...) TEW-821DAP (v1.0R) as these items have been EOL. " This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
AnalysisAI
OS command injection in TRENDnet TEW-821DAP firmware 1.11B03 allows a network-adjacent authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands by manipulating the hostname, username, or password parameters in the DDNS configuration handler at /goform/tools_ddns. The affected product is officially end-of-life - the vendor has declined to issue a patch and disputes ability to confirm the vulnerability on the v1.0R hardware revision. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires an authenticated session to the TRENDnet TEW-821DAP web management interface - the CVSS 4.0 vector specifies PR:L, meaning at minimum a low-privilege authenticated account is needed. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The reported CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 (Medium) with VC:L/VI:L/VA:L appears to understate the practical impact of arbitrary OS command injection on a network gateway device. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker with valid low-privilege credentials to the TRENDnet TEW-821DAP web management interface - obtained via credential stuffing, default factory credentials, or prior reconnaissance - submits a crafted POST request to /goform/tools_ddns embedding shell metacharacters (e.g., semicolons or backtick sequences) within the hostname, username, or password fields. The firmware's sub_42026C function passes this input unsanitized to an OS-level shell call, executing the injected command with the privileges of the web server process, typically root on embedded devices. … |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch exists and none is forthcoming - TRENDnet has confirmed TEW-821DAP is end-of-life and will not address this vulnerability. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
