Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires that a WordPress site administrator holds an active, authenticated session in their browser at the moment they visit the attacker-controlled page. The WP EasyPay plugin must be installed and active on the target site. The attacker must successfully deliver the malicious URL to the administrator through phishing, malvertising, or a compromised third-party site, and the administrator must visit it without intervening logout. Exploitation is limited by this mandatory victim-interaction requirement - unauthenticated visitors or non-admin users whose sessions lack the privileges to invoke the vulnerable endpoint cannot be leveraged as victims. No special plugin configuration, non-default feature, or specific server-side state is required beyond the plugin being active.

Impact

The NVD-supplied CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L, score 6.5) contains a likely scoring error: the UI:N (no user interaction) metric is mechanically inconsistent with a CSRF vulnerability, which by definition requires a victim to interact - visiting a malicious page or clicking a crafted link. The correct metric is UI:R, which would reduce the base score to approximately 5.4. Impact is bounded to low integrity and low availability (C:N), meaning an attacker cannot exfiltrate data but could alter payment plugin settings or disrupt functionality. No CISA KEV listing is present, no public exploit code has been identified, and EPSS data was not provided in the available intelligence. Real-world risk is moderate for sites where administrators are regularly logged into WordPress and could be lured via phishing; sites where admin sessions are short-lived or MFA is enforced face lower practical risk.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker crafts a webpage containing a hidden HTML form or auto-submitting JavaScript that targets a vulnerable WP EasyPay admin endpoint. The attacker delivers the page URL to a WordPress site administrator via phishing email or social media; when the administrator loads the page while their WordPress session is active, the victim's browser automatically submits the forged request with their authenticated session cookies, causing the plugin to execute the action - such as modifying payment settings - without validating request origin. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis.

AnalysisAIv1 – Jun 18, 2026

Cross-site request forgery in the WP EasyPay WordPress plugin (versions through 4.4.0) enables remote attackers to perform unauthorized administrative actions by tricking an authenticated WordPress administrator into visiting a maliciously crafted page. Missing or insufficient nonce verification on one or more plugin endpoints allows the attacker's forged request to be processed as a legitimate action using the victim's active session. No public exploit code and no CISA KEV listing are present at time of analysis.

RemediationAI

Administrators should check the official WordPress Plugin Repository for a version of WP EasyPay above 4.4.0 and upgrade immediately, consulting the Patchstack advisory at https://patchstack.com/database/wordpress/plugin/wp-easy-pay/vulnerability/wordpress-wp-easypay-plugin-4-4-0-cross-site-request-forgery-csrf-vulnerability for the confirmed fixed release. No exact patched version was independently confirmed from the available data - treat any referenced version as unverified until confirmed against the plugin changelog. If an updated version is not yet available, deactivating the WP EasyPay plugin eliminates the attack surface at the cost of losing payment processing functionality. As a partial compensating control, a WAF rule blocking unsigned cross-origin POST submissions to the plugin's admin-ajax.php or admin endpoints may reduce but not eliminate risk, and may cause false positives on legitimate plugin interactions. Enforcing short admin session timeouts and training administrators to avoid clicking unsolicited links while logged into WordPress reduce exploitation likelihood without requiring plugin changes.

Technical ContextAI · show details

WP EasyPay is a WordPress payment plugin authored by Saad Iqbal (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:saad_iqbal:wp_easypay:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*). The vulnerability is classified under CWE-352 (Cross-Site Request Forgery), a class of web application flaws where a forged, cross-origin HTTP request submitted from a victim's authenticated browser is accepted and processed as legitimate by the server. WordPress's security model requires plugins to validate cryptographic nonces (via wp_verify_nonce) on all state-changing requests; the root cause here is the absence or bypass of this check on one or more WP EasyPay plugin endpoints. The flaw was discovered and reported by Patchstack, a specialized WordPress security intelligence platform.
