| Exploitation Conditions | Requires authenticated uploader account in WWBN AVideo versions 26.0 and prior. Attacker exploits objects/aVideoEncoder.json.php upload-by-URL feature with URLs containing bypassed extensions (.mp4, .mp3, .zip, .jpg, .png, .gif, .webm) to perform SSRF and exfiltrate server responses. |
| Impact | Real-world risk is moderate-to-high for organizations deploying AVideo internally or in multi-tenant environments. The CVSS base score of 7.1 reflects high confidentiality impact (C:H) with network attack vector (AV:N) and low attack complexity (AC:L), though exploitation requires low-privileged authentication (PR:L). EPSS data not provided, but no confirmed active exploitation exists (not present in CISA KEV). The primary risk materializes in environments where AVideo servers have access to internal network segments, cloud metadata services (e.g., AWS EC2 IMDSv1 at 169.254.169.254), or privileged APIs. An authenticated uploader can leverage this as a reliable data exfiltration primitive to probe internal services, retrieve cloud credentials, or access restricted endpoints that trust requests originating from the AVideo server. The UI:N (no user interaction) and low complexity factors increase exploitability once initial access is obtained. However, the PR:L requirement significantly reduces attack surface compared to unauthenticated SSRF vulnerabilities, limiting exposure to insider threats or compromised uploader accounts. SSVC decision framework would classify this as requiring scheduled remediation rather than immediate out-of-band patching unless internal network segmentation is weak or cloud metadata exposure risk is high. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker with a low-privileged uploader account authenticates to the AVideo platform and navigates to the media upload interface. They craft a malicious upload-by-URL request to objects/aVideoEncoder.json.php with downloadURL parameter set to http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/iam/security-credentials/role-name.mp4 (appending .mp4 to bypass extension validation). The AVideo server fetches the AWS instance metadata containing temporary security credentials and stores the JSON response as media content, which the attacker then retrieves through the platform's media access mechanisms. The attacker escalates this into full AWS account compromise by using the exfiltrated credentials to assume the instance's IAM role. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Apr 07, 2026
Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) in WWBN AVideo 26.0 and earlier allows authenticated uploaders to exfiltrate data from internal network resources via objects/aVideoEncoder.json.php. The flaw bypasses existing SSRF protections by permitting attacker-controlled URLs with common media extensions (.mp4, .mp3, .zip, .jpg, .png, .gif, .webm), forcing the server to fetch and store arbitrary remote content. This represents an incomplete fix for CVE-2026-27732. No public exploit identified at time of analysis. CVSS 7.1 with network-accessible attack vector requiring low-privileged authentication.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to the patched AVideo version referenced in the vendor security advisory at https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-cmcr-q4jf-p6q9. Upstream fix available (PR/commit); released patched version not independently confirmed from provided data. As interim mitigation, restrict upload-by-URL functionality to trusted users only via role-based access controls, implement network egress filtering to block server-initiated requests to private IP ranges (RFC 1918, RFC 4193, 169.254.0.0/16), and enforce strict URL validation with destination allowlisting rather than extension-based filtering. Deploy Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules to detect and block suspicious downloadURL patterns containing internal IP addresses or cloud metadata endpoints. Review server network segmentation to ensure the AVideo application cannot reach sensitive internal services or cloud instance metadata APIs.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The vulnerability resides in WWBN AVideo's aVideoEncoder.json.php endpoint, which implements an upload-by-URL feature for ingesting media content. The flaw stems from insufficient input validation on the downloadURL parameter - specifically, extension-based allowlisting logic that permits common media and archive file types without adequately verifying the URL destination. When an authenticated user with upload privileges submits a crafted URL ending in an approved extension, the server initiates an HTTP request to the attacker-specified target and persists the response as media content. This violates the fundamental SSRF mitigation principle of never trusting user-controlled URLs for server-side fetch operations. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-918 (Server-Side Request Forgery) and affects the PHP-based AVideo platform (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:wwbn:avideo). The issue represents a bypass of prior CVE-2026-27732 remediation, indicating the original fix employed extension-based filtering rather than robust URL validation schemes like destination allowlisting or metadata-based content verification.

DescriptionCVE.org
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions 26.0 and prior, objects/aVideoEncoder.json.php still allows attacker-controlled downloadURL values with common media or archive extensions such as .mp4, .mp3, .zip, .jpg, .png, .gif, and .webm to bypass SSRF validation. The server then fetches the response and stores it as media content. This allows an authenticated uploader to turn the upload-by-URL flow into a reliable SSRF response-exfiltration primitive. The vulnerability is caused by an incomplete fix for CVE-2026-27732.
Executive ViewAI
WWBN AVideo versions 26.0 and earlier contain a Server-Side Request Forgery vulnerability that allows authenticated users with upload privileges to access internal network resources and exfiltrate sensitive data through the aVideoEncoder.json.php endpoint. Organizations running AVideo should immediately audit user access controls and restrict upload permissions, as this vulnerability enables lateral movement and data theft from internal systems by authorized but compromised accounts.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: (1) Restrict network egress from AVideo servers using firewall rules to block connections to internal IP ranges and non-whitelisted external domains; (2) Disable or revoke upload permissions for all non-critical user accounts; (3) Implement Web Application Firewall rules to block requests to aVideoEncoder.json.php containing URL parameters pointing to internal network addresses; (4) Monitor server logs and DNS queries from AVideo servers for suspicious outbound connection attempts; (5) Segment AVideo servers on isolated VLANs to limit lateral movement if account compromise occurs.
