| Exploitation Conditions | Attacker must trick an authenticated AVideo administrator into visiting a malicious webpage. The victim's browser automatically sends the admin's authenticated session cookie (due to SameSite=None policy) with forged POST requests to the admin/save.json.php endpoint, allowing arbitrary plugin configuration modification in WWBN AVideo versions 26.0 and prior. |
| Impact | Real-world risk is high for organizations running AVideo with administrative users who browse untrusted web content. The CVSS 8.1 score reflects high confidentiality and integrity impact with network attack vector (AV:N), low complexity (AC:L), no privileges required (PR:N), but requiring user interaction (UI:R). While EPSS probability data is unavailable and the CVE is not in CISA KEV, the attack primitive is well-understood CSRF with no novel techniques required. The requirement for user interaction (administrator must visit attacker-controlled page while authenticated) reduces likelihood compared to fully unauthenticated attacks, but the impact is severe-complete platform takeover through configuration manipulation. The absence of a vendor patch at publication time elevates operational risk significantly. SSVC framework assessment: exploitation not confirmed but technically straightforward given public advisory details, automatable once victim interaction occurs, technical impact is total control of platform security boundaries. This represents a critical risk for internet-facing AVideo installations with active administrative access. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker creates a malicious webpage containing a hidden form that POSTs to the victim's AVideo instance at admin/save.json.php, targeting plugin configuration parameters. When an authenticated AVideo administrator visits the attacker's page while logged into their platform (common during routine web browsing), the browser automatically includes session cookies due to SameSite=None policy. The forged request reconfigures a payment gateway plugin to redirect funds to attacker-controlled accounts, or modifies LDAP authentication settings to create backdoor access. The administrator sees no browser warning due to the cross-origin cookie policy, and the lack of CSRF validation allows the malicious configuration to persist immediately. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Mar 31, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in WWBN AVideo 26.0 and earlier enables remote attackers to reconfigure critical plugin settings through forged requests targeting admin/save.json.php. The endpoint lacks CSRF token validation while the application sets SameSite=None cookies, allowing attackers to manipulate payment processors, authentication providers, and cloud storage credentials by tricking authenticated administrators into visiting malicious pages. No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. EPSS data unavailable; not listed in CISA KEV; no public exploit identified at time of analysis, though exploitation requires only standard CSRF techniques.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis per the GitHub security advisory. Organizations should implement immediate compensating controls: deploy web application firewall rules to enforce CSRF token validation on admin/* endpoints, modify cookie configuration to remove SameSite=None attribute (changing to SameSite=Strict or Lax), implement same-origin validation in admin/save.json.php, and restrict administrative access to dedicated networks or VPN-only access. Monitor the official GitHub security advisory at https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-4wwr-7h7c-chqr for patch availability updates. Consider code-level remediation by adding isGlobalTokenValid() or verifyToken() calls before processing requests in admin/save.json.php and removing plugins table from ignoreTableSecurityCheck() array in objects/Object.php if custom patching is feasible.

Technical ContextAI · show details
AVideo is a PHP-based open source video streaming platform. The vulnerability stems from missing CSRF protection (CWE-352) in the admin plugin configuration endpoint (admin/save.json.php). The endpoint processes POST requests without calling isGlobalTokenValid() or verifyToken() validation functions. This architectural weakness is compounded by two implementation choices: the application explicitly sets SameSite=None on session cookies (allowing cross-origin cookie transmission), and the plugins table is added to ignoreTableSecurityCheck() in objects/Object.php, bypassing standard table-level access controls. This combination permits unrestricted modification of plugin configurations through forged cross-origin requests, affecting core platform functionality including payment processing, identity federation, and cloud infrastructure integration.

DescriptionCVE.org
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. In versions 26.0 and prior, AVideo's admin plugin configuration endpoint (admin/save.json.php) lacks any CSRF token validation. There is no call to isGlobalTokenValid() or verifyToken() before processing the request. Combined with the application's explicit SameSite=None cookie policy, an attacker can forge cross-origin POST requests from a malicious page to overwrite arbitrary plugin settings on a victim administrator's session. Because the plugins table is included in the ignoreTableSecurityCheck() array in objects/Object.php, standard table-level access controls are also bypassed. This allows a complete takeover of platform functionality by reconfiguring payment processors, authentication providers, cloud storage credentials, and more. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.
Executive ViewAI
WWBN AVideo 26.0 and earlier contain a critical CSRF vulnerability in the admin configuration endpoint that allows attackers to manipulate payment processors, authentication providers, and cloud storage settings by tricking administrators into visiting malicious pages. Organizations running AVideo face immediate risk of unauthorized system reconfiguration and potential credential compromise affecting revenue processing and data access controls.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: (1) Implement WAF rules to enforce CSRF token validation on admin/save.json.php requests; (2) Configure SameSite=Strict cookie policy at reverse proxy/load balancer level; (3) Restrict administrator console access to internal/VPN networks only; (4) Require multi-factor authentication for admin accounts; (5) Monitor admin configuration endpoints for anomalous changes via SIEM.
